Thank you for being here. Although Marijuana is a controversial subject, I am a computer science senior on a mission to journalize a history of Marijuana in quest of what the 73 year-old ban was about and how that pertains to Americans in 2009. I want to know what the possibilities are for lifting the ban. Although the journal may provide answers of the era in which the plant became illegal in the U.S.A., the project consists of animation cartooning for my B.S.I.T. Capstone once permission is acquired from my professor.
Since possession is a federal offense in all 50 states, at least thirteen states have passed laws allowing medicinal use. The ordeal over legalization stems from a battle against politicians that prefer to appear tough on crime which increases spending on law enforcement and overloaded prisons with related drug laws. Taxpayer funded propaganda stifles opposition dialogue including political contributions from corporations that profit from marijuana being illegal: pharmaceuticals, alcohol, etc.
Suggestions for making this a humorous project will be appreciated.
