I just noticed today on my outdoor plant that the leafs have black spots on it everywhere. what can this be?

Could be Thrips. Have you a picture of the leaves?

yep pictures is helpful, black spots hmmm, check for white invisible bugs, spiders, webs around your plants get it off, throw some mothballs around the plants to keep all bugs away, even rabbit, cats dogs will not go near it, if u think of snakes that go around em, use salt pour the salt in the circle, snakes will not go across where ur pots is if its outside i hope that helps too cuz we all are growing too black spots, hmmm

I would definiatly do a mite check. Check the underside of your leaves with a loupe and see if you see any slow moving dots or little white eggs. Does it look as if something is sucking juice from your leaves?

Potash/Potassium Defficiency..

Check PH of water and feed before you water.

massproducer is right, and replace your water to bottled water to feed the plants, our house water is involved with chlorine we dont want that to our plant dont we many thanks about eggs, maybe thats white spots people here talking about, grrr mites is hard to see we do need natural plant that repellent the insects!!

here is some pictures
