oh....oh...oh.....

Ride The Lightning:lama:

Being a huge Metallica fan I can't choose a favorite song but I do hve my opinion as a fan and musician/guitarist as to best album. No question, hands down it's And Justice For All....it's them at their best IMO. Even the production quality on that album for me is their best. Also without a doubt their worst album was that POS they did with Lou Reed. I love Lou Reed but that thing is horrible. :-D

I actually love their first few albums but some of their lesser knwn covers are just bad***. A cover by Metallica - it's called "So What"...listen to it...I think you'll like it...or even "Breadfan"

Agreed, they hve some great covers...my favorite is Mercyful Fate. It's a medley of a cpl Mercyful Fate songs and it's like 7 and a half minutes of *** kicking music.

I agree, best song would be hard to call...

Worked sound for a few bands and have had the pleasure of meeting many many bands...these guys have been a favorite since Monster's Of Rock (well, before, but that was the first I got to see them live)! Saw their Justice show 4 times (gotta love living so near the concert cities...Detroit, Toledo, Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo are all within a few hours drive or less), and the band something like 7-8 times total! They rocked solid for several albums, then started souring around Black and (imho) never recovered!

Overkill, Testament, Megadeth and *cough* Queensryche were the bands I probably saw most (queensryche only because they opened for all the good bands)...Sang back-up with Rob Canavito (Overkill) at the Milwaukee Metalfest several years back! Fun stuff and good memories!!

Trapped under Ice.

I was fortunate enough to see them quite a few times in the clubs in SF begore they got "big" Mustain was still playin' for them.
All in all...Kill em ALL slaps all. The vinal record that started it all.

hello. now your in my back yard. roddy, did you catch the american rock festival in 84 at timber ridge ski resort, (ratt, accept, night ranger, motley crue, quiet riot, ozzy, and triumph)? are you old enough to remember, or went to the jam in 77 at the dragstrip in martin?(bob segar, heart, nazareth, spirit, and the little river band)? i was so looped out on A at the 77 jam, i don't remember much after getting there. lol. timber ridge and 131 dragstrip are in my back yard and where i call home, and play hard! i use to venture up to charlevoix for shows at castle farms in the 70's and 80's. seen def leppard and krokus there in 83. (one of the more memorable concerts). B93 Birthday Bash was at martin speedway last weekend. it was moved there from ionia fairgrounds after the big flood. rock on brother!

mettalica, its hard to choose just one...:)

Heya Irish!! :ciao:

I graduated in '83 and went straight to working 20 hours a day (owning a golf course really wasn't fun). When I finally rebelled a bit, I went to concerts. Bob Seger's (supposed) final tour was my first concert, then a few others (REO Speedwagon w/John Schnieder LMAO). Monsters Of Rock came up in '88, we dropped some A and waited all night for tix, got side stage at stage lvl. 4 deaths at that concert, a riot when Metallica took the stage, riots in between sets...I was HOOKED!! After that, I hit many a concert!

Pine Knob (now DTE Energy Center), Joe Loius Arena, Harpo's (a bar/concert hall in Detroit), and the Toledo Sports Arena were my favorite scenes. Saw so many bands I can't recall them all, nor the tours LOL, but I do recall seeing Alice Cooper with Motorhead and a few others (wish I remember that tour name), Guns and Roses with Aerosmith (twice same weekend) and even Black Sabbath (RJD) at Pine Knob (among hundreds of others).

The mega concerts (4-5-6 bands or more on same venue) started coming around and we'd hit those, metal bands like WASP, hair bands like Cinderella, GnR, Ratt etc and yeah Metallica!!! I was hitting 2 or 3 concerts a week, would catch a band in Detroit and follow it to Toledo. Testament and Overkill became my favorite bands to follow and they came around often. Awesome times and memories (what I still have lol)!

Great thread guys! I must say I that I love the oldschool metallica but from Black and on they just aren't the same. They suck imho. I love the old 2 or 3 minute intros and 7 or 8 minute songs. They were way better in their early days. I own all of their early albums and that'd it.
