My first plant was maturing on the top much better than the bottom due to my allowing it to grow out naturally. I really wanted to see it first as it was supposed to be I guess. Anyway here she was 8 days ago just before she got a flat-top:

Here she is post procedure:

So now I have a battle of the triches going on. Now that the canopy is opened up she's busting out new hardware, finishing off old and I'm stuck on when to take her. So I selected two mid-level buds and photographed them best I could. They are seeming opposites in clear vs. cloudy and amber looks even. Opinions? One more bit.....her leaves greened up, I lightly tied her open, spread out lower branches, mild but opened up quite a bit.

She looks better than before the topping I just don't know, it looks like she isn't finished. Lesson learned on the manipulating. I am just aiming for a good result on my first plant and have screwed it up enough. I'm shocked I'm even here tbh.

Opinions are appreciated. If you zoom in the resolution is good enough to see how much clear there is on that second one.

EDIT: Sorry for the beard-hair in the first close-up pick. At least it's sticky right?

I can't tell by the pictures but if you see all cloudy with about 20% Amber,,she is ready.

I didn't see any amber in either photo. Anyway, if some buds are ready and others are not, you can always take the ones that are ready and let the others go a little longer. I'm not so discerning myself. If the top buds are ready I take the whole plant.

I've had amber, milky and clear all in the same long piece... My last run stunk so bad that I had to pull it early just for my sanity - and I am legal... Still reeks.

I guess the amber is what's confusing me. I suppose the better question and a bigger worry for me is - am I pulling too early?

I'll try and get better close-ups of the triches. I appreciate the input.......I am truly clueless as I've done this entire thing from a book. Two books actually and a guy from the grow shop who has been out of cultivating for years. He understands it like you all do. I apologize for the repetitive questions. I am reading up on alternative methods to avoid such complications in the future. I know this much......tripping and stumbling into results like I've already had makes doing it right a place I've got to see.

What I am not seeing is any amber or only minimal, correct? If I'm seeing this right I should be able to pull the mature and leave the buds still going. Those are two mid-plant, average-looking buds. Neither looks ready to me. A lot of clear and hardly any amber.

Most girls don't like you pulling early.

Yes not done yet a few more weeks I suspect but once they start turning amber it progresses quickly. Check again in 3-5 days. You see some amber check daily

I like my weed racy. I tend to look for an absence of clear trichomes more than any pct of ambers. Usually 10-20% amber when the clears disappear.
