Aluminium MH Lampshade

Hey guys.So I made a shade for my 400W MH out of a sheet of aluminium, some nuts and bolts, and some cutting.When the lamp is on the shade gets quite hot.Wires don't make direct contact with the aluminium cept for the wires coming from the socket that goes through the sheet to wire with the balast.What I want to know is, is it safe to run the lamp for a prolonged period of time?

Cut some vents in it. Heat rises and if you don't have any the heat is just getting trapped at the top of the reflector, hence the heat.

I got a idea for the vents but I dont need to use it right away.I have a fan on it right now, that I thought could not be usedcuz of space etc.
