4 42 watt cfl veggitation box.

so i went ahead and bot a cheap box to hack up for a vegg room,i plan to keep 6 plants total.thats all i can fit so i will keep u all updated on this veggitation attempt with cfls,im useing 4 42 watt cfls and a fan.i got 2 seeds of some mexican that cracked open and are now in fox farm ocean forrest soil.will see what happens with those.i also got a seed out of some chronic i came across,i will give that a few days,that leaves me with room for 3 more witch i will germ some more orange cali.i will post pics so far,in a while thanks for stopping in.PS my bad box is 59.6 inches high 22.3 inches wide and 15.2 inch depth.

you should paint the inside of that box with white paint of line it with mylar.

Hey PurpleSkunk, neat beginnings of a little set-up you got there. (4) 42 watt CFL's are about 11,200 lumens which puts you at about 4,800 lumens per square foot. That's close enough to 5,000 for me. I would evenly distribute all 4 lights at the top of the box and train the plants with LST to have a flat canopy 2 inches below your CFL's. You are going to get better results of reflectivity if you painted your box interior flat white and stay away from aluminum foil. A quart of paint would do your box fine. If you painted the sides and the ceiling white, you may be able to eliminate your aluminum reflectors you got for your lights and gain much needed height, IMHO...........

In a small box like that, I woud surface mount the lights to the ceiling, and raise and lower the plants by a system of blocks that could be stacked for any height combo. With cfl's you want the canopy to be 2" away from the lights at all times.

At about 2.35 sq ft, you will soon find that 6 plants will overrun you quickly. Your space is about good for 1 or 2 mature flowering plants. You'll see they fill out the space quickly and will get tangled up and scraggly packing more in there than that.

I was where you are now about a year ago. I started something like 56 seeds (bagseed) on my first attempt. It broke my heart to eliminate all them but 4 which is all I grow at one time for my needs. Keep reading and fine tuning your box and grow. You'll do fine. Good luck

i will paint white asap,
and for having six i dont think this will work eather hopefully my clones come out so i can keep two mothers in this vegg box,and use my mh and hps for vegging and flowering clones so i know they r female.i was getting ahead of myself like always is prefer to waist energy on fem clones then germing seeds and waiting sexing and all,so mainly this was attemp to see if i could even get a desent size plant with this set up.wis me luck thanks PS

so heres a pic of the mexican seed only one sprouted out of 2.the other one rotted.i went ahead and germed 2 caliorange seeds and both are up heres a pic of the 1 the other is behind shell hasnt fell of yet.i will post pic o the last one when its shell falls.as for the clones hopefuly they live this veggbox will be for 1 mother.the others will go under the hps in about 3 weeks.

Whats up PS. Looking great. Hey mang you can get an adapter for those lights so you can stick two in each socket. They cost $2 or 3 bucks at Wally World. This way all 4 lights would be above and you can have more room. All ya do is screw the adapter in the light socket and the two lights in the adapter. Just a thought.

Yeah i got some at wally world for 2 bucks, and i got some at menards for a littl under 2 bucks. I think the wally world ones are better quality though.

so i topped the mexican plant i will post pics once new growth shows.check out the 1st cali orange noone noticed its deformality,well ive had a few like this nuthin new.hope these are females.
