They claimed to work on beds, but instead they worked on buds, authorities said.
Stanislaus Drug Enforcement Agency officers said they found a large marijuana cultivation operation worth $1.5 million in a north Modesto business Monday afternoon.
Investigators found no one at the business, and no arrests were made.

Modesto police spokesman Sgt. Brian Findlen said an investigation led agents to Solar Wolf Tanning Bed Repair at 503 Bangs Ave. He did not say what brought investigators to the business.
They served a search warrant, finding only one tanning lamp inside and no tools or other evidence of a legitimate repair business, Findlen said. Each of the business' eight rooms contained marijuana plants in various stages of maturity.
Agents found about 400 plants within days of being harvested, Findlen said. Authorities estimated the street value for those plants at $750,000. About 900 smaller plants also were reportedly found in the business. Agents estimate the combined street value for the entire operation at $1.5 million.
The operation included specialized lighting and irrigation systems and needed little oversight by gardeners, Findlen said.

haha right here in my county...with all the forclosing houses, more and more growing houses are going up...we have one of the worst foreclosure rates in america, but tons of buds :p

Prolly not but it may have been. I was given a box of random crap from a now defunct grow. After going thru it im pretty sure it was for an automated grow. if you had temp probes tied to the top node connected to to timer to run light lifters, water level sensors, dryness probes, encrypted webcams(remote swivel and zoom costs about 100$ nowdays), wind speed, ppm/etc tied to a converted soap distributer to mix nutes, and a few other bits you could come by once a week by flower.

I used to belong to a robotics club when i was a kid. we used robotic controllers and parts that were widely available on the open market. for $600 i could make an automation unit that could do everything including visually evaluating tric color percentages. For a commercial grow im sure the investment is worth it.

Narcotics agents today arrested a Bay Area man in connection with a Monday marijuana bust at a north Modesto tanning bed repair business, a police spokesman said.
The Stanislaus Drug Enforcement Agency served a search warrant today at a home in the in the 8600 block of Southwick Drive in Dublin, said Modesto police Sgt. Brian Findlen.
After searching the home, agents arrested Leo Vincent Villalobos, 36, for his suspected involvement in the indoor marijuana-growing operation at Solar Wolf Tanning Bed Repair at 503 Bangs Ave. in Modesto, Findlen said.

The narcotics agents found about 1,300 marijuana plants worth about $1.5 million at the business.
Findlen said the agents found only one tanning lamp inside the business and no tools or other evidence of a legitimate repair business. Each of the business' eight rooms contained marijuana plants in various stages of maturity.

Little oversight by growers?

Thats right, you go ahead an believe that buddy.

Its not so far fetched, i only NEED to go to my grow every few days to refill reserviors. this dude could easily run this by himself, and if he added gear to automatically refill the res and add nutes, and a couple webcams to check up on the grow remotely he would not need to go there at all.

Not that never showing up is a good idea because its kinda suspicious if you say your running a business, but no one ever sees you running the business

Definitely safer than growing in your house because 1) no need to rig an unsafe electrical system 2) If cops find out, you will likely be in the house when they raid you

As usual these DEA peeps are idiots for suggesting that 400 plants is worth 750000. $1875 a plant, i wish.
