What's up...

Hey guys, been looking around here over the past few days and figured I'd finally introduce myself. Been smoking since I was 15 (27 now), and have grown some in the past, but it's always been seeds out of a crap bag of mids, never anything spectacular, and always grown outdoors. I am now building a grow room in my attic for my first real attempt at some good buds. Only shooting for 4-5 plants for my personal use and to help my buddies out. Just growing in soil now, but would love to get into hydro setups soon. I'm a mechanical engineer, so the fabrication and design is as rewarding to me as the end product.

My biggest issue with this project is the wife. She doesn't mind me smoking, but said absolutely no to growing, so my setup has to be extremely quiet. Luckily, I have loads of room to work with due to an addition that was added onto the house and a "false roof" that creates a completely hidden room above my garage. I have to figure out something for the smell too, but I've seen a few things on here that will probably work.

I have 6 small seedlings right now (just some mids) that I am testing the setup on before I buy any good seeds. Any recommendations or suggestions you guys may have are appreciated. I look forward to getting to know you guys! :smoke1:

Tell me about it lol... I'm not worried about her finding it, it's impossible to see unless you know it's there. I'm just worried about the smell / noise from fans. You guys think you could smell 4-5 plants (prolly white widow) through 8 inches of insulation and the ceiling?

I wouldnt hide it I would just tell her Im doing it..take the anger now..jmo. then let her know in the future when there is something she wants/to do even if you disagree she gets a freeby...lol...then remind her that the money you save could buy her a luxury cruise of her choice...something along those lines..shopping trip with sister..in other words bribe her...She may not notice the smell but she will notice you going up there and spending time and harvesting no?

I may tell her, not sure what I'm going to do yet. She works 60 hours a week or so, and I work from the house, so I have plenty of alone time for harvesting / tending etc. I am fully confident that if I can keep the smell and noise under wraps she'll never know. I don't like keeping stuff from her though, so I may fess up. The grow room is 50% built, so it's too late to turn back now!

A good carbon filter and a low smell strain like Northern Lights#5. They make some really quiet inline fans these days. But I would just tell her to...it's not worth the hassle if or really when she finds out...because she will...she is a woman, closely related to the devil, with special powers! Welcome to MP!

thanks for the welcome guys.... I've talked to the wife several times about this, hopefully she'll warm up to the idea some. I'm just gonna hang around a bit and see if I can't learn a thing or two... I'll post up some pics once I get everything going!

Build or buy a carbon filter for the smell. They make kinda quiet fans for you too run. Maybe after its all built you can say to your wife, hey I have something to show you, its harder for her too tell you no then, but then again maybe that's why I am no longer married,

But anyways hope it all works out for you.

hay indychus! just came across this , it sounds really interesting and im now dying to see what you`ll do lol tell the wife or not! either way i wish u the best of luck bud! im on my first grow atm , (jst at the end of it) so im really sorry ill not be much used to most likely . but i look forward to following your grow!

I think on if u tell her or not depends on your relationship together , and who she is , for example , if i did a secret grow and didnt tell my girl *only been living with her for a year now* i dont think she`d flip too much, but then that would only be because i got thru the whole thing without being busted!!
i can think of a few friends partners who would hit the roof if they found out something im pretty sure what ever u decide to do will be right for the right reasons amigo! im sure the only reason shes dubious about it will be cause she dont want her man in any trouble!! same as you would feel for her hope you get on well on here , theres so many helpful people about! im new to the forum myself but have been really impressed and happy to see so many friendly helpful people who have fantastic banter on them to boot! all in all...fantastic forum!

Hey man whats up I'm new myself good luck with your grow and girl. Some times it's eaiser to ask for forgivness then permission but that can back fire in your face to. hopefully she will just come around and let you do your thing. Cant wait to see your setup when you post some pic's
