What Runz Hotter???

im about to start a stealthy build in a hollowed out dresser. give or take it about 10 sq ft. Temps r a concern. the inside is gonna be completely covered in reflective material and its gonna be mostly sealed so not many watts will be wasted. im looking into a 150 watt compact hps. the ballast is built in i guess. does this sound like the right light. does the ballast generate heat like the light and if so would i be better off getting say a 250 with a seperate ballast kept outside the dresser. any input or suggestions will help

I read something that said use about 30w per sq ft for veg and 60w per sq ft for flower. that would be 600w for flower which seems like way to much.

i think your gonna need a 400hps with seperate ballast at least in 10 square ft,,and what ever light su use u are gonna need a an intake and outtake fans to draw out the heat and let in the fresh aireace:

After some more thinking on the matter i came to this conclusion. Regarless of the total area of the dresser i will only be illuminating about a 1.5' x 3' area.
I was planning on 3 plants but i think 2 will allow better light penetration. About how many watts or lumens do u need per plant(average size) for big dense azz budz. Will the 150 be enough for both? Will a 250 watt cooltube be too much.

i dont have any experience with these lights and dont really know how hot they run so i dont want to buy something far too oversized.

With a 250w cooltube you shouldn't have ANY worries about additional heat generated by the light. The 20$ 150w HPS lamps aren't too bad on heat, but with the cooltube you can run the lights ALOT closer to the canopy without having to worry about burning the tops

A space that is 1.5 x 3 is only 4.5 sq ft. A 250W in a cool tube should provide more than enough light and be fairly easy to cool. You want to shoot for 5000 lumens per sq ft. A 250 HPS will provide about 28500 lumens, so this is 6333 lumens per sq ft. Your plants will love that many lumens! I think 2 plants would be good in that space.

LOL yeah been outta school for a min. Im pretty much set on the 250 watt cooltube. Im just worried bout putting in a dresser. Thats y i was gonna go the led route but after hearing all u guyz and galz constructive critisism* well..............i just want big budz.
