i'm doing a closet grow and the wall where painted with a texured roller they are not smooth (some what bumpy) should i smooth these out (in a previous post it was pointed out that reflectors in lights are not smooth) thank you

Doesn't matter--you get more bounce with a broken-up surface. Just make 'em white.

No, no, do not get semi-gloss or any other finish than flat. Get FLAT.

To your original question--the reason flat paint is better is that it has more surface area to reflect, just a your bumpy walls will.

i've been growing for 6 years all i use is semi-gloss.. along with about 10 of my friends also. goto any hydro store and confirm if you want

It really doesn't matter what you and your friends use or what the hydro store guy says--it can be proven scientifically that semi-gloss paint is LESS reflective than flat white paint.
