Well, while reading I have encountered more than just a couple people that tweak if using more than 1000W in lights. I'm just sitting baked and thinking... I realized my desktop computer (which I built myself) was on 24/7 before I started growing as well as one other computer in the house and 2 laptops on and off. Now my desktop has a 500W power supply and it is using between 430 and 450 of that. The other desktop isnt as powerful and is usng about 370W. Plus the laptops which use about 200W while on. Right there, between the two desktops is 800W.

Now, I never use rarely use the desktops and do laundry at the laundry mat sometimes so really, I think it is safe to use 2000W in lights ran 24/7 and there shouldn't be much to worry about. That's just what my brain is telling me right now. Make sense?

Well i considered the same thing, there are 3 to 4 computers on in my house usually 24/7, and they all use pretty much 600w psu's.

Why would a 400w HPS make any difference to the electric bill??

^^Exactly.But I think a 2000W jump would be pretty significant DLtoker.lol

It's not a total jump of 2000W as long as there are certain measures taken... Like turning off the desktops and doing laundry elsewhere... So then the wattage jump is a few hundred watts total. Sounds like it wouldn't raise one eye brow to me...

Should be all good even with 2000 watts, but wouldn't go over that IMO. Also you should be good, it's not like you are running all your cpu's on 18/6 or 12/12. You should also still be able to do your laundry. A household dryer can put out like 6000 watts, but just to dry your clothes for an hour shouldn't be a big deal. Again just don't have your dryer on 18/6 or 12/12 :). Some people out here run up to 8000 watts, even more than that. (but legally)

Don't forget about passive electricity use. I don't know how impressive of a number it is, but things like your tv and microwave use up electricity just by being plugged in.

is that why everybodys parents when growing up are such plug socket nazi's? oh, and come to think of it thermostat nazi would be a good description too i beleive! lol

LOL Riz,

DL Toker,

If your not hurting for currency. Just pay the bill and if your not in holland keep it on the down low.

Ha! Yeah, thats what I figured. Oh, BTW, I don't have my dryer on and 18/6 timer!;)

you can also turn down the heating/ac in your house. Just tell them you have a few lights to do wordworking or some ****. They can't enter your house just because your bill jumped a bit LoL
