The real low down on lumens?

Hey guys.So I was wondering right now...what's the min number of lumens you need?I know the rec is 5,000.Also, are resin count,yield, etc, noticably less on a plant supplied with 2,500 vs one with 5,000..and so on?What's a safe lumen count to really have a decent harvest, but still be a low lumen count?

Less lumens means less bud. More lumens means more bud. You need atleast 3,000 lumens per square foot of growing space but 5,000 would be better.

Yeah Mom.lol.Well just trying to use as little money,current and heat as possible to achieve a decent enough micro grow for 1 plant.I think ill start veg. with 3,500/sq.ft then work my way up to 4250/5,000.

Squeeze that baby into 2 square ft. 10,000 lumens isn't that much.

Man hope thats a female clone sorta puttin all your eggs in one basket. be heart wrenching to have it turn out to be a male. in two sq.ft. you can plant 3 and weed out the males early on. I have done it in 20"X20"X21"high sq. box w/ (4) 42W CFL's from wall-mart. but that was veg. not flower. need a lot more ht. for flower.

Yeah, my veg box is 1 square ft and i've had 7 or 8 at a time in there. I think you could flower 1 plant in 1 square ft if you started 12/12 soon enough but I don't think yield would be worth it.

It's just an experiment really, I realised the cfl's didn't cost so much so what the hell I'll just LST and prune this to the max.I'll train it to run on the "sides" of the box and flower as soon as nodes alt or, until i guess it's outa room for the time.If it's a male I won't be that upset>make some hash :hubba: I'll get a journal running also.

Hey CS you could try some lower wattage hps. I have a 70w and a 100w and the 70w is not too much hotter than my cfls and give off(if i'm not mistaken) nearly double of what a cfl will give you in lumens. I have the 70w in my veg box with 4 26w cfls.

I was gonna do that too BBP, but I can't find any 70w balasts localy That's the bummer, i'm still looking.
