Hello everyone,

I just recently started a new grow op in my apartment and I think I might have already been infected with spider mites. Does anyone know any easy way to tell for sure.

I've read some other places that if you have black spots on the bottom of the leaf then you have spider mites. While I do have these black spots I am unable to wipe them off which I understood you can do if they are spider mites.

From what I have also read there should be little webs all over the leaves but I cant find any of these webs. I would post pictures but all I have is the camera on my phone which doesnt take the greatest pictures. If any one has pictures of what a spider mite infestation looks like I would really appreciate if you could post them so I could see what exactly I should be looking for. I would really appreciate it.

If I do have spider mites what can I do to get rid of them with out losing the plant? I know there are chemicals that I can spray but I really dont want to use a chemical if I can avoid it but if it comes down to losing my babies or hitting them with a little "Agent Orange" I'll hit'em with the "Agent Orange"

Thanks for all your guys help in advance.

Spider mites are hard to see but if you look close at the bottom of the leaves you should be able to see them and the eggs. And you should notice white spots on the tops of the leaves, it kinda looks like someone spray painted the leaves white.

They are next to impossible to get rid of and they multiply so fast you cant just wipe them off. Ive had problems with them and have never been able to get rid of them. They become immune to everything so you have to use three or four different methods to get rid of them.

You want to spray the bottom of leaves with:

Neem oil
Water with tobacco in it
Mite pesticides
Or if you can, use the pesticide strips that you can get at any hardware store. But they are pretty toxic

Good luck my friend

Dont use all the methods at once. I mix it up every week.

A pyrethrum fogger works wonders. And its derived from a crysanthumun flower so its kinda natural. Also if you can, get some natural predetors. Not easy to find if you don't have a local hydro shop though.

While a pyrethrum fogger is good, you still need to keep retreating your plants with different methods--they develop a resistance very quickly. I have found natural predators to be virtually useless if you have an infestation already.

Thats why you bomb then introduce preds :D. I got 2000 for 30 bux. Can't really say if are doing their job or not but have yet to see any more mites since releasing them. I was told they won't get rid of the mites completely, more or less just balance out the ecosystem in your grow area.
