When placing rockwool into my netpot do I put it at the very bottom? Or do I want to put some hydroton balls underneath it?

i think your talking about rockwool cubes, and i would put hydroton or shredded rockwool under/around it. get a journal goin...wed love to watch!

Yeah I think I will start a journal but I want to be sure i have everything right first. I tried a hydro grow about a month ago and I had the slowest growth Ive ever seen so I went back to soil. Maybe my second try will be better.

I generally put the rockwool cubes in the bottom of my net pots and then put the hydrotron on top of that.

If your hydro grow was slower than your soil grow, something was wrong...

True. Hydro grows much faster than soil grows. There must have been something wrong the first time. This time you will have much better luck. I'm sure the members on here can get you pointed in the right direction. Keep us posted. Take care and be safe.

I know hydro is faster, that is why I am trying it. But when my plants did not show any growth at all for the first ten days I called it quits. Now Im making my second attempt and hopefully it works out better this time. On my first attempt I think I had the rockwool too far from the water so I think that is why they didnt grow. Now I have it so the rockwool stays wet and I think it will work this time.

I would put hydroton on the bottom of the netpot. About 2-3 inches, then place the cube on that. You HAVE to keep an eye on her and hand water for a few daze until she throws roots thru the netpot. Once they hit that you will be good to go.

I found that if you do have the rockwool too close and it constantly keeps wet, you will be prone to rootrot from the cube down. Takes alittle more work hand watering, but it worked for me.

Hope this helps.

norcalhal how high up the stem would u bring the water level.

I ran the water leval to right under the net pot, so the breaking air bubbles misted the pot.

are we talking about ebb & flow in buckets.

sounds like norcal is using DWC.. am i right? I also like to put a coupe inches of hydroton under the cube. gives the roots something to grow through for those first critical days instead of being pressed flat against a net cup... imagine shoving your face into a tennis net.. how happy would you be...:confused2: in my little 2 x 2 ebbnflow i set the water level with a couple inches of hydroton in the pot, bring the water to just under the height of hydroton set the cube in fill up around her and hand water a couple times a day just to be safe for the first 2 or 3 days...
