I have lined the inside of my micro grow container with aluminum foil and yesterday while looking around my garage, I found what I believe is Mylar, about 50 feet by 50 inches wide. This is the reflective material that a glazer might install on your windows. Once installed it reflects yet allows you to see through it from the inside. I tried to staple it to my S.W. facing windows but the strong gusts of wind tore it off. I did not know how to apply it properly. Does anyone know about the regular mylar as compared to what a hydro-shop would sell to you? Should I consider changing to Mylar?

Hemp Goddess, I checked my temperatures at the tops of my plants and found that they were around 88 to 92 degrees, so I took your advice and added my extra computer fan. I also raised my gro with another banana box. This decreased the heat canopy at the top by 10 degrees and at the top of the plants by about 8 degrees. The added fan data is not yet available but it will surely drop the temps considerably.

IME you are better of going with flat white paint. ceiling paints are the best they are designed to reflect light

Aluminium foil does not reflect light but absorbs it so matt white paint is far better than foil and mylar best of all.
Only thing foil is good for is cooking Prospector.

:yeahthat: Alluminum foil will cause hot spots ar burn your plants and un less perfectly flat not very reflective either.

My favorite wall covering is FLAT WHITE paint. It is inexpensive, easy to "install", is washable, and is quite reflective. Appearances can be deceiving. Foil, mirrors, glossy paint are poor reflectors of light even though they look like they would reflect more.

I used to use mylar, but it is just a big PITA. It only carries those high reflective percentages if it is hung flat with no wrinkles and if it is kept clean--both of these are hard to accomplish.

Yep yep on the flat white paint...Just make sure you get brilliant white as there are several variations of "flat white" that I have seen at the stores. The Wal mart brand of paint is some of the best quality on the market(believe it or not). If you need to also insulate the grow room, Lowes sells some insulated material that looks like a roll of bubble-wrap that also has mylar on it that is 97% reflective. It is called Reflectix and it comes in 2' and 4' rolls. It is also decently priced. :)
