Hi, I'm Peteman.
I live in Florida and just started researching growing and all it entails. There is alot of info out there on the net.. the problem is what is good and what is bad info. Questions about seed banks. How risky to have sent to you? How dependable are they?
Also does anyone know anything or have an opinion on LED grow light panels?
thanks and i hope i will be enjoying the fruits of my labors in not the too distant future.

First of all welcome to the site. Secondly as with anything, you will always see contradictory statements. With growing, however, there are a lot of hard facts backed with years of research. If you do a few searches on here you can find plenty of threads about led grows. They have their pros and cons, which i'm sure you will read about. The things i would recommend reading first would be the stickied threads at the start of most of the sections, lots of very useful information to be found there. There is also a list of seedbanks in that section of this forum which people have rated and wrote reviews on.

My opinion (since you asked) on led's are that they have a strong future in the growing community and have many benefits(electricity consumption, lack of heat, etc.), however with the current price so high and the lack of canopy penetration i prefer metal halide for veg and high pressure sodium for flower. Heat has never been an issue for me and i know they work.

Good luck and welcome again, i hope you find this response and this forum to be useful!

Welcome to the club Peteman, if you do alot of reading on this site, you'll soon realize that there are many, many things to be considered in growing what is essentially a weed.

Here is a link to help you along the way:

seedbankupdate.com - a good site to check out seedbanks

As far as seed delivery here in the US goes...sometimes a shipment doesn't get through, but they usually do. Some seedbanks do not ship to the US at all, but thier seeds are available thru other seed vendors.

I have never tried LED lighting mainly because it is too costly at the present time, for the average grower. It is the future tho. Once those costs come down, I imagine that everyone will be doin' it.

I would suggest that you do at least one grow using bag seed. There is somewhat of a learning curve when it comes to growing and it would be a shame for you to make the error of killing alot of expensive seeds. I speak from experience here, ruined alot of (fortunately free) very nice genetics before I got it down so they could go full cycle. That's just MHO...

good luck with your endeavours...

Peace...j.b.

I've never used LED's for growing, but I think in the coming years they will get more affordable-You see more and more of them now.
