Heres a link to a sketch i made of a potential setup:

MasterPlan.jpg

Im looking for any comments or suggestions anyone has for my setup

One question is whether or not id greatly increase yield using 2 600 watt lamps as opposed to 1 1000 watt lamp on a 6ft light mover in the flowering room (my space is 8ft wide and 4ft deep)... ??
using 2 600's would offer 5750 lumens per sq ft and using a single 1000 would offer 4531 lumens per sq ft... the reading ive done says light movers increase effective growing area by 50% and the movement of the light would enable me to position it closer to plant tops without burning them.... ?? im not sure what to do??

Also, if anyone thinks they can offer a rough estimate of how much i would yield with 6 plants every 30 days using this system, that would be great as well :D

thanks

Edit : Removed photobucket link ... please read site rules ;)

hey bud... load yer pic onto the thread as an attatchment... not suppose to do as u have done... delete your photobucket link and load it onto yer thread directly from your 'puter... if you don't have it there yerself, save the pic onto yer puter and then edit it into the thread so I can have a look at it :)

i dont do good estimating yields..too many variables. ive heard a half-1 gram per watt of light. looks like a well thought out plan, whatcha using for ventilation?

I would be for going with more light in the flowering room and less light in the vegging/mother room. I would probably use 2 1000W HPS for the 32 sq ft in the flowering room. I would also recommend a MH for vegging--probably a 400W. You need to get your ventilation figured out. To adequately do this, you are going to be generating some heat and your plants love fresh air coming into the grow room. I recommend air cooling the lights. It makes a lot of difference in the heat, but it makes it harder (not impossible though) to use a mover.

Your plan looks well thought out and should work well. I do a perpetual grow type thing also, but I start 1 or 2 plants every 2 weeks. I hate trying to predict harvest amounts, too. New growers should focus on learning everything they can, enjoy the grow, and not worry about yield yet.

I would use 3 600 watts instead of 2 1000 watts.

If I had the money to reinvest that's how I would do it. my 1000 watt gives off way more heat than my 600 watt.

good luck with your project looks like you are putting thought into it and you will be glad you did!

Thanks alot for all the responses.I agree that using two lights would be a better idea for the 32 sq ft room. I'll probably end up using two 600 watt hps as they would provide a pretty ideal 5750 lumens per sq ft for the entire room.. maybe even put them on some mini light movers, and switch the other light to a 400 watt HPS instead of an MH and use a bulb with 30% blue spectrum added to better suit the vegging(i read that hps encourges the plants to have shorter internodal length)

For ventilation i was planning on using vortex fans with carbon filters to keep fresh air in the room, i will duct them to the lights to keep them air cooled as well... which brings me to my next question, how can i provide an adequate amount of CO2 to the rooms without it being sucked out of the rooms by the fans, if it requires having the fans turn off with timers then how long would i have to have them off??

thanks alot once again:holysheep:

also, sorry for the link mistake.. i will be sure to take a long look at the forum rules :]

This is wrong. MH is much better for vegging and encourages shorter internodal spacing. Using a HPS for vegging will encourage the plants to stretch and have longer internodal spacing..

if you wanna use a hps for vegging,i'd suggest supercropping.im orderin (2) 600 watt hps within the next couple weeks for a 4x9 area. are you orderin online? if so,which website are you gonna be usin? another thing i'd suggest is using a good high quality bulb.i.m.o. sunmaster or hortilux are very good choices-peace

I wouldn't worry about adding CO2 now. If you provide plenty of fresh air, your plants will have enough CO2. Get some crops under your belt. You will have plenty to learn without the added problem of regulating CO2. Set up your room and get your cooling and ventilation dialed in. Learn how your plants grow, how many nutes they like, how best to regulate pH, etc, etc.

Bunch of good information given in this thread, I also agree that I would use more lights at a lower wattage than a single 1K or even 2 1K's..... I would go with a couple or 3 600's or even 3-4 400's.... You will get a much more even light dispersal with more units in the area than just having one light source.... and another benefit of more units is that IF one should go bad on ya. You can spread out the other units to cover the space till you replace the bad unit....

Much less heat with 400-600's than a 1K light too.... It will be easier to manage.
