old lettuce smell???

4+1/2 plants down and 1 1/2 to go.there appears to be diff. opinions on CURING mj.??recently i have; (1)cut and hung my branches on a clothes line for 2-6 days in a dark room in 50% R.H. until leaves curled.(2)then trimmed most leaves off -except the little guys covered in tri's. and placed the trimmed branch (buds) in a paper bagin several layers w/toweled dividers for 2-3 days.(3)i cut buds off branch and placed in BALL jars.(4)still opn"g. jars for asecond or 2 daily.i may have over dried most but still sticky inside,LOOKS and smokes great... myquestion,problem is the jars,when opened smell like old lettuce.??16 jars, diff. varieties all smell similar.CAN ANYTHING BE DONE ABOUT ODD ODOR??a friend said samples smelled much better later in baggies.i am ordering a CAL.111 hygrometer and trying HICKS sticky (curing) this next batch.
i know of several new guys w/ same SMELL problem.THANKS EVERYONE

Cant help ya, did they smell before you put the weed in there or is it the weed that made them smell?

I love the smell of my jars, one day im going to make hash from them.

hi grodude, yes, a mild but wonderful good weed smell.seemed to have lost it during drying process.????WHY?

It's the chlorophyll breaking down. Keep opening the jars- but give it about 20 minutes with the lid off.

The more sugar leaves you leave on, the longer it takes for that smell to go away.

I went with Hick's "curing by the numbers" and noticed the same thing Newbie. Now that im weeks past the jarring stage and barely burping, threw some in a baggie to take to my buddy and it smelled like DANK again!

I think BBF's post ^^^^ explains it. I wouldn't stress though, I was really worried too.

not dried/cured enough.. stems shoud snap not bend.
