For those of you who are middle-aged or older, what new things have you tried? Buying your dream vehicle, learning to cook, more college, more children, new pet, new relationship, etc?

I'm learning to grow my own, and learning to cook.

I went zip lining, I always wanted to try it. There were a total of 4 lines. Instead of getting more brave after each one, I only became more terrified!!! Lmao. I wont try it again even if my life depends on it!! No way, Jose!!

One thing off my bucket list though. :p

If I live to see tomorrow I'll have one more yesterday

White-water rafting. I took up white-water rafting in my mid 40s. And I am talking about real white-water. We did a lot of rivers in Idaho--the Middle Fork of the Salmon (once did this 100 miles of water in 2 days), the Main Salmon, Hell's Canyon, the Selway and the Lochsa, the Murtaugh section of the Snake. However my favorite place was the Payette River system--3 different rivers with really different personalities from easy paddling class 1 to gnarly life-threatening class 5 and 6 rapids. I had to give up the nasty white-water after a hair-line fracture of my hip when we flipped the boat in a rapid called "Staircase" on the South Fork of the Payette River at high water. The water was so high and fast that we could not get over to the side to right the raft and had to execute a deliberate flip on the water to get the boat right side up. I am not sure that my heart would handle the adreneline rush that accompanies a raft flip anymore, let alone my body. It was an exciting time though...we would raft in Feb sometimes. We pushed our rafts off 6' snow banks into the water and had to watch out for ice jambs.

THG Check out The Gauley River We whitewater raft it and fish for smallies and rock Bass.

Wow. Very impressive. Maybe I'll try bungee jumping or para-sailing.

Very impressive. I no longer feel like my new hobby of "learning to cook" is worthy of even mentioning...:)

Learning to cook is an adventure, too. Now that I am 60, my adventures are of a more tame nature. I still raft, but nothing higher than a class 3 rapid. I like stretches of river where the rapids are mild and the fishing is excellent. I too am delving more into cooking and getting into gardening (the flower and vegetable kind) for the first time in my life. I am going to do an organic indoor grow as soon as the weather gets warm enough for me to cook compost and make up a super soil mixture.
