hello im new to indoor growing decided to grow using cfls just for the hell of it. im more into outdoor growing,but i`ve read several forums about cfl growing so i decided to try it this winter any advise would be app.

welcome to mp. lots of good info on growing with cfls here. thats what i started with and still use for seedlings and clones. have a look in the lighting section or the indoor growing section. or you could try the search feature. enjoy the site and if you have any question after your search post them and they'll get answered petty quick. lots of memebers here ready to help in any way they can. good luck

I to have used the CFL's. They work great for Vegging. Never tried to Flower with them,,but I am about to try and Flower with Floras, 6tube, almost 30,000 lumens, T5 Setup. 6500K for Veg and 3000K for Flower.

thanks for all of the replys ! thats what i love about potheads ! whats everybodys thoughts on flowering with cfls? i know they dont work as well as hps, but i`ve been doing my research and it seems some people get a descent harvest using cfls. and i`m hearing different things on number of watts and number of bulbs to use whats the facts? how may lights i need for 12 plants?

i used 17 42 watt cfls to flower 6 small plants in a 2x2x4 box. i had decent buds. how big is the area you plan to grow in? the number of bulbs it would take to flower 12 plants would cost more than the weed if you bought it on the street. the 42 watt cfls are like $8 each. you need 3000-5000 lumens per sq ft of area you plan to grow in. with cfls i would get as close to 5000 as you can. before you spend a bunch of money on cfls take a look at some hps setups you'll spend alot less and get better result.. it can be done with cfls but in the long run it costs you more. jmo
