I am trying to grow an outdoor plot this season. I have two bagseed plants started; one looks awesome, the other looks kind of like it came from a plant cloned too many times. I'll be ready to sex them in a week or so. If I have a female, I hope to get some clones ready to plant in a neddle patch in May.

My question is this, will they have enough light in a natural neddle patch? The woods are thick, but it is mostly old growth, say maybe six hours direct sunlight on the solstace, maybe one hour in aug-oct.

The neddles really thrive here, probably seven feet at the end of summer. I've been scopping this place out for a couple years now.

Will the taproot reach water, or will I have to haul water in every week? Should I airate the soil? Should I condition the soil? This is prime stuff, old growth topsoil like four feet deep, there is a lot of decomposed red cedar tree stump on top, but down below is like what you might find in a bag at the nursery.

Also, I grow, lets say, the drier part of southern vancouver island, near sea-level, when is the natural harvest time?

Thanks, eh

MJ needs lots of direct sunlight. They will survive with mottled sun and partial shade, but will most likely be scraggly, poor specimens.
Soil should be ammended or totally replaced with quality potting soil, perlite, lime, ect. I'm not sure on the "Cedar", but pine, spruce, type evergreen needles make the soil very acidic. NOT mj friendly.
Watering, nutrients and care are absolute, in order to maximize your plant.

My boy HI C is dead on. MJ needs light, and lots of it. I like cornfields, but also Briar patches are an excellent place. Anywhere people will have a tough time getting to is good. What state/country are you growing in, or better yet what kind of terrain?

Nope...your post was clear! Be kind to us stoners...we don't always comprehend what we read. ;) Lovely place where you live....north of Seattle so I can I guess you also get lots of rain?? Not sure on your weather condition's there but yes you will have to carrry in water when mother nature does't give your babies a drink. They will let you know when they are thirsty. :D Like Hick said>>>you do need to buy soil to replace what you have. I have many pine tree's & do the same. Happy Growing!
