I use a 600 in that exact same size room. The heat is easier to control than the 1000 and with a 600 you get about 5600 lumens \ sq ft so its above the high end....

600 would be optimal IMO

ya i just like the fact that with the damper its a solid that someone cant just put their hand through or anything u know? an added sense of security

I didnt need to. I drilled a 4 inch hole in the bottom of the room. This is known as a "Passive" intake. There are no fans pulling because my exaust fan actually creates a vacum inside the room. this provides plenty of Fresh Air
and about the cracks in the door I just covered the box with a Tarp. this blocked the light in the places I couldnt seal

this is exacly how I do my flower room...I have a 6 inch duct at bottom right of flower room and a 435 cfm in upper left corner...my flower room is 4x6x8=192 cf ..that Votex pulls air from ouside of shed thre grow and out into carbon filter..works 4me...thanks for shareing my friend:)

hey my friend...the screen is a good idea to help keep bugs out...but it wont keep light out.( when your lights are on can you see the light anywhere?)..if you use this box to flower in you will need it to be light proof...heres How I do it...first Ill tell you that light travels in a straight line...ther for takeing a couple 90 degree bends of duct pipe...paint the inside with flat black paint..conect them to make an "S"...thats it..

IMO...a damper has the chance of not opening...

Sorry...I could push my hand threw it...and what would they get if they put their hand threw it..lol..Reminds me of the stuffed animal crane game...lol...got my arm stuck in that one too...along with the Coke machine:)

ok question cause i cant seem to find the answer anywhere. for u guys. but could i grow a mother in like a 6 in pot with a height of 15.5'' off of 3 cfls, 25 watt 6500k, 1,800 lumens a piece, growbright bulbs.... i would only need cuttings/ clones every few months

to keep the hole light proof I use several layers of screen over each side....air still makes it through but bugs and light do not....

yeah you could grow a mother that way.... I would LST here to keep her small and bushy and grow lots of clone sites.

sick man, im planning on pulling my 600 out of the closet and make a 4 by 4 by 7 ft flower chamber. and a veg box and clone station of coarse. you should of got some white/black poly stuff woulda been cheaper then plywood and just make a wooden frame... well i cant wait till all my stuff get heres. you gave me some good ideas post more pics detailed if you dont mind, thanks bro.

I gottcha New 2 Chronic Passive intake right on. Hey Im thinking of a setup like yours 4x4x6 but I cant decide on whether to use a 600w or 1000w im not going to be able to have a/c in the room because its in an apartment and im probably going to pop a circuit. Any ideas would be great.

If you wont be able to run an a/c then I'd suggest using a 600 watt. Successful gardens require between 3 to 9 thousand lumens per sqare ft. Working with a 4x4 area (16 sq ft), a 600 watt(90,000 lumens) would give you approximately 5625 lumens per square ft... which is pretty damn good... a 1000 watt(140,000 lumens) would give you 8750 lumens but would almost certainly generate wayyy too much heat in such a small space without an a/c. Saving that extra 400 watts would definitely be a lot better on your apartment power consumption as well, especially if that 600 supplies such a solid amount of lumens... having your plants raised or the light lowered to the right distance, using mylar on the walls and maybe even adding a light mover for increased coverage and decreasing the time that the light spends sending heat directly to one area of your garden should give you excellent results.

yes i planned on lsting her just making sure i wasnt gonna try the impossible. :)
but do u think a 600 watt in a 20'' - 29'' - 70'' foot space too much? i have a 6 in vortex 449 cfm fan, two 4'' dampers for intake. and a small oscillating fan. when the doors are closed without any intake/ exhaust/ lights the box stays at 74-75 degrees and 40% humidity... is my 600 watt gonna be too much for that small of an area?

Thats a perfect setup my friend...Run with it...improve as you grow...but from what you are saying you are running optimal grow temps/hum/lumes...Keep on Keeping on..

Ive had my share of problems with my first grow that got me to this point....It was Murphys Law Grow(anything that can go wrong, will go wrong, and at the worst possible moments)... 5 months and still no bud,,, but ive got over the learning curve, I think. Ive got some pretty females and clones,,....and in about 2-3 more months Ill have a harvest to be proud of.....

thanks for all the comments,,,i couldnt of come uip with the design without people like those here at MP.... and i keep getting ideas on improvements.....AWESOME GUYS!

lol thanks new2c yours sound great 2. but still lol u think the 600 is too much? its 154 watts per square foot lol
