Greetings.

This is my first grow. I grew this plant from bagseed. This plant has been growing for approximately 3 months. I noticed today that there are signs of female sex at the top ONLY. I see a few pair of little white pistils, so I’m assuming it’s a female. However, it’s only happening at the very top of the plant, NOWHERE else. So my questions are as follows:

1. I live in the northeast. It starts to get cold here as early as late September. Should I be worried about this? How long will it take until harvest?

2. Should I be covering this plant or bringing it inside now that it has begun to flower to speed up the process? It isn’t yet on a 12/12 cycle, and there are only white hairs at the very top, nowhere else.

3. I fed it veg nutes six days ago. Upon discovering the white hairs, I flushed the medium completely. Is it time now to start flowering nutes? Can you offer any advice on how not to screw this up from here until harvest?

4. What do you think of the plant? Just looking for an opinion on my first grow.

Any input is appreciated. Thank you!

Hey there sap_boy,
MMMMmmmmMMMM I'm gonna go out on a limb here and wager that you got yourself a good looking sativa growing there. Very nice looong finger leaves, not wide, or fat like an indica. Now if I'm right and that is a sativa, then you can expect within reason that your baby is gonna grow real tall and even more interesting. If this is the case, you still got a lot of growing to do based on what I see in your pics. Hey good luck on your grow, I think baby looks great.

1. Your plant will be done anywhere from 40-100 days after first signs of sex. Indicas finish fast, sativas slow. Yours looks sativaish so you could have up to 3 months left but it could be done in 2. 2. You don't have to do anything to her. If she's showing signs of sex, flowering has begun. 3. The veg nutes wouldn't hurt. Actually, some people give veg nutes for a couple of weeks into flower before switching to flower nutes. Don't over do it with the nutes.4.The plant is beautiful:D.

bom pretty much covered all your questions very well , #2 though you should leave her out side as long as possible and 12/12 dont pertain to out side plants , by the way , around late sept you might want to bring them in at night if it gets too cold , to speed them up right now move them pots where they get the most sun light as possible ,keep giving them alot of tlc , other than that they look real nice, and :welcome

If it's going to get even larger, is the pot going to be large enough? Do I need to transplant it or will it just stop growing when the plant gets too big for the pot?

I was going to start with flowering nutes tomorrow, but do you think I should stick with veg for a few more weeks?

Geez...there's so much I don't know...

it will slow them down a great deal , but , i think it would be wise to transplant into something bigger , once they get totally root bound , it will cause a lot of problems later you dont want , if there starting to flower.. ferts thats really up to you , some people do stay with nitrogen for a week or two and some swap once they start the flower stage , if you swap it dont hurt to put a little extra nitrogen in , if you change , sometimes they need a N boost , just make sure you dont over fertalize , you can allways add more but you cant take it out ..........you dont want to do anything now to stunt there production.......:D hope this helps, make sure if you trans plant to water her really good and you have good drainage..

...a bigger pot would be great..ASAP!
Induce as little stress as possible during the transplant. "Less stress" less recovery time.."I" prefer the pots reeeally dry, where the soil has already shrunk back away from the pots. It seems to work best, for "me".

Here's the problem: The plant is already in a 5-gallon pot. I'm really worried that if I try to transplant it, I'll screw it up royally and either kill it or stunt it's growth completely. Is there any way for me to safely keep it in the pot it's already in? Perhaps bringing it inside for a full 12 hours to speed up flowering?

just don't feel comfortable risking transplant when it's this far along...

i would say shes real close to being root bound now , transplanting is not that hard , make sure the soil is dry in the pot with the plant , this way the root ball will stay together and come out of the old pot , get a bigger pot , fill the bottom of that pot with soil , so when you pick your plant out of its old home , the top of the old soil is about an inch or so from the top of its new home , filling empty space with dirt all the way to top of new pot, water good !!!!!!!!!! there will be less stress and set back if you do this ASAP........bringing her in side for 12 hours will not speed up flowering , she has all ready started this stage , since she is showing sex now , it will not produce full flower till she is mature , you still ,have a while be for , the cold hits , for her to finish doing her thing..if shes not done by than.. bring her inside this will give you the time to get lights and other things set up in , preperation

So here's another question:

I only have soil that's already enriched with nutes, probably with a 3-month time release. If I transplant to a larger pot and use this soil, is this foing to screw up the growth cycle? Will I sill be able to feed it flowering nutes? how likely it it that this new soil will complicate things. Alternatively, should I just use dirt from the backyard? Does this present a new set of problems?

no it will not mess up the grow cycle , if you dont want to go buy just plain potting soil , i , would straight water for the first week to 10 days , heavy watering will wash some of the nutes away , if your drainage is good this will not cause a problem , and than you can start adding the flowering nutes in small doses , like 1/4 amount of full dosage and work up to the full dose , in the following couple weeks , this way you dont over fertalize .......:D
