make your own light... how?

a buddy of mine said he made his own 250 light hood and ballast for a fraction of the cost it be if you bought it from a grow store but he wont tell me how.... any ideas, thanks

hope you are handy cuz you gotta build your own hood out of the sheetmetal and your own cord. if you are not familiar with wiring and electrical work i wouldn't even attempt it...............

idk what you can get a complete set up for but i doubt your buddys "fraction" is larger than 1/2 of what a ready to go system can be found for.

p.s. a 400w lamp and ballast is like $10 more from bulbs.com i would go with that iffn i was to build one

You need some cords but you can find them easy enough, or use somthing around the house.

You can find a fancy ballast box for $22 or just use a peice of hardwood.

so for ~ $101 and I didnt look hard you can build your own light.

That's an absolutely HORRIBLE deal. You can buy a 400 for $99 from insidesun, and they have 250's too that are like ten bucks cheaper. And the shipping isn't bad either.

Yea its really hard to compete unless you can get some of it free
