Looking for the Best Way

I'm new to the grow world and as such have several questions. I've been reading a lot on this site and I picked it because simply the advise here sounds great and I want to grow successfully. what is a Hermie? I assume has to do with being part male but want to confirm. More importantly how do you know if you have one? I have grown 6 Purple Hindu plants from clone to flowering using a 400 HPS light and boy I have learned a lot. Light leaks for sure. I ended up with spider mites. I have killed them with Safer houseplant incecticide. I then after reading your articles started using 50% ISO and 50% water. I like that. Heres what I have learned from growing these first 6 plants. Containers are not big enough. I have 30" containers by 6" and have three plants in each. I have two of them. My plants vary in height from 3' to 18". They are budding but the buds are not getting very big. I had to remove most of the leaves on two of the plants since they were wilting. The ends were turning yellow and brown. At what time do I cut the plants and how long do I dry them before I can use them? Do I hang them upside down? I have ordered three grow books to also help with the future. So big question is this? In the size container I have with the light leaks I know I have are they done growing buds? I have plenty of buds just not big ones? Thanks for any input. When you take cuttings, do they have to have a sprout? Can you just use a leaf? I bought White Widow seeds but have not germinated them as of yet. I could use some suggestions here as well. containers etc... I have FFOF soil. I planned on using the solo cup method but really want to get them going right? for my seed growing can I get a flourescent light setup for my closet? Any suggestions here.

Hold on to your FFOF.
Flourescents work fine for seedlings and clones.
I use a 5-gallon bucket for each plant.
Just do some reading.
Keep it green.

Most important right now-seal the light leaks.
Light leaks will delay the flowering.
