So I might just be having a panic attack because one of my seedlings just keeled over and died (It was over fertilization) but the surviving twin has a nice stem but it just seems long. It's about 2.75 inches from base to where the leaves start forming. It's only about a week old. Just curious if this is normal behavior for seedlings as this is my first time growing.

It happens because the light source may be too far away from the plant. Take more soil/medium and cover the stem up to the first set of leavesand then lower your light.

What type of lighting is the plant under?

it could be because of the light but it can also be that you didn't bury the seed deep enough, what type of dirt were you using?, or hydro? most dirt have fertz already in them so adding more is to much for the plant so it shocks and dies just a little fyi

I agree with Mp,
Your light source is to far away from the plant canopy. Lower your light and do as Mp say's with the transplant and burrying the stem base down to the first set of leaf's. This will keep the pant from getting to top heavy. More info needed with the lights and set-up.
Peace and Love!!!!!!!!!!
Roken.

I'm using two 26W CFL's lamps right now in a small closet grow. I think you are right with the light being too far away.

and thank you for all the advice! i knew from other pics that marijuana plants are more "bushy" than "weeds" like (no pun!)
