Little cloneing problem

See one of my dads friends hooked me up with 2 bowls on a stem and the little bit i know bout cloneing is u clone a plant byplanting the stem of the original am i right? well i did that and the plant isnt looking to well. being only 16 SHHHHH and livin in alaska gives me very little resources to work with right now i have it hiden out in my backyard. the plants leaves are starting to fall off and the stem is turning yellow. Comment me with some advice even if its not very good advice cause any advice would help.
