Can I run my lights on a portable power generator? I have 1 electric 1000watt ballast and 1 (original) magnetic (I think magnetic, its the big heavy ballasts) 1000 watt and I have a 3000watt honda generator. Can I ran my lights on my generator.

you could but i think you will be spending alote on gas, not only that but what about the noice the generator makes

i am not gonna swear to this as i am no electrician.why would you want to do this in the 1st place?a gas gen. will cost u a fortune.the flucuation in power might harm your ballasts also.i would only use a gen. in a power outtage or some other have to moment.do not take this as fact as stated above.

I just don't want my electricity bill to go sky rocket and have everyone(DEA) to look up on me. I would rather spend a little money than spend a little (or I should say big) time. My generator is new and it's only about 75dbs. And its in my garage so its unnoticeable unless ur in the garage.

Relax,a 1000 watt bulb won't raise any suspicions by anyone.A generator running 12 hours or so a day is just crazy. One little missed schedule can wreck a harvest and as Andy said voltage fluxes will eventually kill your light.

But you want to spend 10 times as much on gasoline?

It not a practical option.

hee hee hee.. yep, you'll spend more on fuel for 1 week, than the electric bill will jump for a month probably for two months! ;)... "IF" the generator will even handle the amps...
amps, volts, watts,... they're all greek to me...:p
