Hi all. I didn't know what category to put this under, so I picked this one. I need an argument/heated discussion put to rest, finally, regarding mixing different strains of weed.. Not tons of strains, just a couple, including Northern Lights. My friend in NH grows his own, as he owns his own home and has ample space and the perfect 'dirt.'

I got this new stuff on Tuesday morning. I smoked and 7 hours later, I was completely sober as a judge. Then we got take out at a steak house, I ate a grilled chicken salad, then had a few chocolate covered cherries (had them many times before w/o a problem). Within 20 minutes I was covered with hives on my upper thighs and the next morning my face was swollen, mostly my lips. It was awful looking.

Anyway, my husband told me he thought it was the different strains, and I really had to disagree, as I've been smoking for 30 years, with not one problem arising.

At the ER on Wed. morning, the doctors and nurses were trying to figure out what the allergic reaction was from. Then I remembered, after a while that I just finished 8 days of Amoxicillin and I'm highly allergic to Penicillin, which is either the same thing, or a derivative. Anyway, the doctor's (and btw, I never mentioned the weed to the ER) and nurses decided that it was the antibiotic, seeing I'm already allergic to penicillin. They said I could even get a reaction, days after I finished, which is exactly what happened.

My question is: Has anyone ever heard of anybody else who has smoked different kinds of weed, getting a nasty allergic reaction like that? I surely haven't. Thanks!

It is not mixing strains of pot--I do that all the time and have for years and years and years.

However, I am allergic to penicillin, too. I was told by my doctor after the first allergic reaction to NEVER take any "cillin" medications. How could any responsible doctor put someone who is allergic to penicillin on amoxicillin ???????????? You are probably lucky to be alive.

Imo, it isn't the mixing. I have done that for years as well. Good Luck. My husband had the same reaction from amoxicillin. I agree it was dumb of whoever put you on it. Hang in there.
