Is being high similar to diabetic effects?

I was listening to the radio, some science show. I don't remember name, just caught a tid bit of it when my ipod battery died on highway and I couldn't find charger going 70mph.

Anyhow.

The "Scientist" was saying that the effects of pot is same as going into a diabetic shock.

he was saying that weed lowers your blood sugar, that's why potheads eat up candy and junk like nothing.

Seems odd, my mom has diabetes and she never seems stoned haha.

Has anyone heard anything like this before? If it does lower your blood sugar... why don't diabetics take it instead of insulin. Anyhow any light on the matter would be much appreciated for my own curiosity.

Thanks!

I'm a diabetic- (Not insulin dependent) and I smoke maybe once a week. All I know is I get the munchies & laugh alot more than when straight. I have never had any strange physical feelings from weed as a diabetic. I highly doubt my sugar #s are outof line-I would know it.

Bear in mind that every person reacts to diabetes differently and what doesn't bother me may bother someone else. I also have never been in a  diabetic coma.

You can't take talk show guests to seriously. What he's said is baloney. Any doctor can tell you that.

I'm also a diabetic. MJ doesn't do anything to your sugar levels. The very idea is silly. If you get the munchies and pig out, sure, your sugar will go nuts. It'll do that without the pot as well. The pot has nothing to do with your sugar levels except for making you get the munchies.

Also, the insulin regulates the sugar and doesnt 'lower' it
