I have had some issues recently. Everything pointed to overwatering, but I couldn't believe that, thinking I had been SO careful. Well, there's a new twist in the plot that AGAIN points to overwatering. Please help me with your opinions.

I took two of the oldest of the plants(almost 3 weeks old now) and put them outside becuase I was sick of looking at their curly leaves and piss yellow color... They ahve been outside for like 8 days and I have watered them once and although they are already bug ridden, their new growth is a nice green and looks promising!

Does this mean that I have been overwatering for a fact? I mean they are going about the same amount of time without water as the others in the tent, but they look like they are on a much faster recuperation track despite being attacked by spiders and whatever else...

Could I not have enough lumens for the plants? They are under 2 t8 32w 5000k bulbs. Which I know is on the lowend, but couldit cause these issues?
Also the room they are in is air conditioned to 80˚, while outside it averages around 88˚ right now.<-- NO LONGER TRUE, I TURNED THE LIGHTS INWARD SO ALL THE PLANTS ARE GETTING SOME LIGHT FROM ALL 4 BULBS

Thanks errbody

It could be that they dry out more being outside than inside not sure what your RH has been in your area.

I dont no if its the cause but 2 T8's isnt enough light at all , are the leaves clawing up like they are trying to make a fist? have you been feeding them yet?
got any pics?

Depending on the size of the tent, I would be willing to say that they are underlit which will slow down everything but stretching. Also the kids outside are subject to more fresh air moving around which would dry them out quicker. Plants grown from seed wouldn't be acclimated to warmer temps unless the actual phenotype of the plants is a warmer pheno :)

I am gonna play with my t8s, they are on 2 shoplights, so I am going to try and angle them inwards so the small plants can get something from all 4 bulbs instead of just 2.
If that doesn't work I am going to just say screw it and put them all under the 400w hps... I was hoping to get that clone/seedling area dialed in

This is from my first thread about this problem:

Strain: Bagseed (maybe the problem? But don't blame it on that as a copout!)
Grow Room: HTG supply Mother Keeper Tent (2'Dx4'Hx4'W)
Medium: Promix General All purpose, amended with more perlite
Pots: 16 oz Solo cups
Lighting: 2 4ft 32w t8 bulbs 5000k ( I have 4 actually, but the plants are so small they are only lit by 2 bulbs) on a 24/0 light cycle
Nutes: NONE! what are you crazy?? theyre just babies!
Ventilation:Intake and exhaust fan, the exhaust is 1.5x as powerful as the intake... could that be a problem? Also have an oscillating tower fan to circulate the air in the tent
Watering: I water till runoff, only once the cups feel light, which seems to be about every 2 to 3 days
Temps/rH: Very stable temps at 80˚, maybe drops to 78˚ at most during the night. rH ranges from 35% to 60%(after watering i think).

I'm also going to switch the intake fan to an exhuast and just open the flap for the passive intake

dman- They are only clawing down, there is one that is tacoing upwards a little but looks fine otherwise. Ill put some pics up in a bit, but now I have bottom leaves going yellow and some big dry brown spots in the middle of the lowest leaves

I don't know much about T8's as I use MH for veg, so can't comment on your lights. It doesn't look like overwatering to me, but others are better equipped to chime in. The intake outtake ventilation and fan sound fine. I use root drench at this stage.

I may be wrong, but I believe overwatering is the culprit here. Outside there is more air movement making for a faster use of water than indoors. If you are watering them every two to three days and watering till water drains out the bottom of the cup then 2 or 3 days just seems excessive to me. Two t8 lights should be ok if they are positioned within about 6 in. of the plants. 4 should be plenty. You temps sound a bit high, can you bring it down a bit? Maybe an extra fan or two to promote good air flow. Although I have found temps up to the 90's will still work, providing that air flow is sufficiant its still a good idea on young ones to keep it in the 70's if you can.
I'm not familiar with pro mix potting soil, maybe its a bit hot for young plants?

Thanks for the response randm999(nice name! ha)... I updated the original post a little, I altered the light setup a bit. Also I moved the fans around so I have both fans as exhaust and a passive intake.

I have started waiting longer to water, hopefully too much damage hasn't already been done...

the only thing in promix that could provide nutrients is the spaghum peat moss I believe, besides that it only contains perlite, lime and a wetting agent. I have amended it with additional perlite...

As for the temps... I don't think I can do much better, I already get enough crap for having the AC on constantly and if I turn it any lower the GF is gonna end me in my sleep...
