If I deside to go HPS for flowering, do I need to consider the size of room to what watts, n what about the heat, don't those give off a lot of heat ???

appreciate all the feedback I can get

Lighting needs are figured as lumens per sq ft, so yes, the room size determines the light you need. All lighting is going to create heat. Lumen for lumen, HPS emit less heat than CFL bulbs. You need ventilation. However, ventilation is not just for heat control. Your plants need a continual supply of fresh air all the time the lights are on for proper photosynthesis.

So since your lighting needs are determined by your room size, you must first decide on a grow space. You are going to want a minimum of 3000 lumens per sq ft for vegging and 5000 for flowering. A 400W will cover 9-10 sq ft, a 600W 16-18 sq ft, and a 1000W 25-30 sq ft.
