Greetings, everyone. I had an emergency in my growroom laast night which I will post later in the appropriate section. This is only my second grow and I have never read this or just missed it. Is this possible or the dumdest thing you've heard?
CAn you(yes) combine very carefully(intertwine?) the tap roots of different strains and the plop then in soil. I can only imagine the variables including not knowing sex. Does this sound like a viable experiment or a waste of time, money, seed, soil,& water

to what purpose are you intentionally growing two plants together?

if they are both female, I don't forsee any probs, but if one is male, it will seed the other when you flower, unless you chop the male down.

it is advised against to put 2 plants in the same container.

this is like an experiment as to what would happen. I don't mean growing 2 seperate in the same pot, I mean intertwining the tap roots of 2 different strains or the same for that matter. I know the "sex" thing is the problem. Anybody heard of this?

if you intertwine 2 differnt roots together, you still get 2 plants dude!! wow:eek: hahahaha they wont just form one plant......

I have heard that you can take a clone and cut a slit in the stalk of another plant and then stick the stem if the clone in the other plant.

If i try it ill post pics.

Why not just grow the plants normally? Just my thoughts. Take care and be safe.

I am just asking opinions of a "possible" experiment is all. I never have grown 2 plants in one pot even though that is what I'm asking about. To me this is a possible genetic thing. I just wondered if the plant would grow vastly different or not. How many root ball will there be?? They will completely intertwine while growing. I geuss I will do it just to see what happens.

We do grow plants normally some people just like to ask questions i was just comenting on what ive heard. :)

What are you talking about? 1 plant is 1 plant, 2 plants in the same container just means less root room and many potential problems. I really do not understand what you are trying to accomplish here...

If you think that you can plant 2 plants and have them genetically merge into one by their roots intertwining, then no this is impossible. Genetics can not be passed through roots. Genetics are passed by pollination. Just like humans, plants have DNA, it is kind of like a white guy, can never naturally turn black, no matter how long he hangs around black guys, it is genetically impossible. It is also genetically impossible for Nothern lights to have any genetic influence on a Haze plant that was planted in the same pot.

What you will influence is the root zone, with 1 of the plants becoming the dominate plant. Your plants will fight each other for nutes, water and light. They will both very quickly become root bound, and it will be almost impossible to seperate the roots in order to transplant them.

Basically you if you plant 2 plants in one container all you will do is stress the plants probably to the point of death. Just remember that roots have 1 major function, that is to let the plant feed, they are basically little wicks that pull the liquid and nutes into the plants digestive system, kind of like our mouths.

Also THC is good for me...It is a fact that you can take a clone from a still growing branch by cutting away the outer bark applying some rooting hormone and then covering it with some damp paper towel and suran wrap. The area where you cut will actually produce roots while still attached to the host plant. This helps with cloning hard to clone strains or for emergency cloning late into flowering. But doing what you said kind of falls inline with what i just said, you can not genetically modify a plant that easy, it has to be done on a cellular level by modifing the plants original DNA.

thank you very much for the answer. My intention was pure "what if". I have never put 2 in a pot together. I now see what you mean about the root situation as I just transplanted some a few days ago. I actually thought( no training, no genitic smarts) that the 2 roots would almost co-form a rootball thus delivering one plant that woould certanly be strange. Thanks again, and I am happy I made a few people laugh

Nah ms4ms,

Thats what growing is all about, you get to experiment and learn things that you would never know otherwize. Believe me, i am no rocket scientist, i have just been growing buds for many years now, so I picked certian things up, just like you are doing right now.

My advice would be take all of the creative energy that you have and try to incorporate that into your grows. Try LSTing, pruning, supercropping, screen of greening(SCRoG) and learn the different ways you can munipulate the plants. Like I said, as you try new things you will learn new things and soon you will be a master.

I can definiately see the potential. Drop me a PM, if you ever need any help bro.

I dont think you could combine two seperate plants and mold them into one strain but I like to try stuff like that too, and if members are trying to tell you its a stupid idea then even if it dosent work its a learning experience :)
