just a quick question, if i were to get a 400 watt which i am, would a full spectrum bulb be wise? i want to use it the whole way through

and how many plants could i fit under it? i know it can differ depending how large i grow them and such.

i could use any other tips too
thanks

You can use it the whole way trough... I know a lot of people that do and grow great buds.
You'll figure out the number of plants you should have... The size of the plants and your set up will determine that for ya :D
The fewer plants you have the better...:hubba:
With a 400Watt i mean..

Good luck!
Enjoy MP!

is suitable for 80 sq feet if I am doing my math correctly. The best growers on this board recomend5000 lumens a sq foot. Trust me on the lights being very important. I just started my 4th grow with a 400 and only 4 lowryders and I can't wait for them to get going. My room is 2x5x6.good luck and read all of the stickys on the board.

There are a lot of people that inquire about the number of plants they cn grow in a given space or with a certain wattage light. There is no real answer to this question. You can put a whole lot of plants into a space and keep them small or do just a couple and let them get huge. Most people go for something in the middle.

Yield is more a function of your lighting than it is the number of plants. A 400W is good for about 8-10 sq ft. I would probably put no more than 4-5 plants in this space, although it is somewhat related to the strain and to any advanced training methods you may want to use. As a new grower, you can probably expect about 1/4 to 1/2 grams per watt of light (all other things being good).

thanks for your help. this being my second grow attempt, first a failure but i learned alot, i was thinking 4 plants. all guarenteed females. so hopefully ill actually get buds off it this time. im just slightly unsure of curing

LOL--You are a long way away from curing. Get them to that point and we will help you with that also :D.

what i meant was, i understand the concept of the stages, just not of what curing is exactly. ha but your right right im intensely novice but im in this just to learn as much as i can so whatever.
I called up the hyrdroponics store in my city (ottawa) and their gonna hook me up with something when i go in and i can test it and all that.

If you haven't purchased your setup yet, I would strongly recommend a digital ballast, like Lumatek. that way you can change bulbs when you go from veg to flower without any additional expense except the bulb. Many like the MH for begging and switch to the HPS for flowering.

I would recommend a digital ballast cool tube with a HPS and a MH conversion bulb I bought mine at HTG and love it. Sea of green 1 plant per sq foot. Growing trees 1 plant per 3 sq foot. Their are many variables that can come into play so its best to experiment

Good luck

Sea of Green (SOG) is the theory of harvesting lots of small plants, matured early to get the fastest production of buds available. Instead of growing a few plants for a longer period of time, in the same space many smaller plants are grown that mature faster and in less time. Thus, less time is required between crops.
