I have 6 600watt lights going in a sealed 18X6 foot room with 9ft ceilings. My question is if I run them in air cooled hoods ( http://www.hydroponics.net/i/380761 ) and vent the exhaust out of the room can I use a 16,000 btu air conditioner to cool the room sufficiently? Thanks everyone in advance.

If you are planning on running 6-600's you are going to need atleast a 2 blowers to exhaust the hoods, I would worry about properly exhausting the room, and then check the need to your air coniditioning, but 6 600's are going to create a massive amount of heat, why would you want to run 6-600's?

Are you growing for commerical purposes?

No I am a med grower with the ability to grow 18 - 24 plants. I figure I am a little low on the lights for 24.

How high are you're temps.? Any of the lights have a cooled hood?

yup, i understand, i am a licensed canadian medi grower, and my limit is 25 plants, but light your space by the area and not by the amount of plants. I run 2-1000w HPS's in cool tubes. If you worry about efficiency instead of excess light you will harvest more. I mean of course having crazy amounts of light will harvest more, but only if you are growing at the upmost of your space's efficiency. meaning 2 - 3 600's in a totally controlled enviroment will yeild more then 6 600's if you are having heat problems and growth gets stunted, or worst your roots rot from excess heat. Basically there are a multitude of problems that can happen if you are not in total control of your space. IMHO, I find it a lot easier to deal with 1 of my lights then both of them, but I spent a lot of money to get my enviroment under control... For me to add even an extra 400 to my space, it would cost me expontially more to cool it. Meaning the more heat the harder it is to control

I think it would be a better idea to seperate the room into atleast 2 rooms, 1 for flowering and 1 of vegging and mothers, and then try and get as much light as you can handle in the flowering section of the room, but this is just what I would do. I sure wish I had that much space.

The other thing to consider is the amount of money it is going to cost to run and cool all of those lights

I am building a seperate room as space isnt the big issue! I wish I could get into specifics but for security reasons I cant. You all make good points and my next step from here is air cooled hoods. One more thing. I am not ONLY using flos. They just pop on when the room needs to cool down..... Ya dig?

Thanks guys
