These pics are all that I shot, I went to movie mode and made a video of much of the show...which was pretty good despite the fact I was much too close. Fallout was raining down on me as I stood knee deep beside the boat in the first pic, that's the east edge of the sandbar which runs from Cherry Point (west) to here (east) and splits the lake in half. This sandbar creates a nice "party zone", they held volleyball tourneys while live bands played and partiers voted best swimsuit. The fireworks barges also were on the sandbar, the fireworks came from the middle of the bar. I was about 100 yards from the barges, wish I'd have been 2x that or more....

Not a single close call last night, I waited in my kayak for almost an hour before starting the 2 mile paddle back to the launch. Last year, I was nearly hit twice (yes, even with bright bicycle strobes flashing on front and back of kayak and with my maglight focused on the boats) by pontoon boaters returning to their slips...drunks boating too fast at night, first time boaters and those showing off are dangerous. Met up with friends at the halfway point, we burned one in honor of my friend Tod who was buried in the cemetery behind where they sat.
