My ballas has a grounded plug but my timer does not have the hole for it!
I was thinking of taking the grounded thing off!
What do I do, besides buying a new timer?
Thanks,Dro:cool2:

its probably safer to just buy a timer with a ground plug. They are only about $10 maybe cheaper now for Christmas stuff...I wouldn't ruin your expensive ballast

What is your light wattage?
Its a 400watt, I can plug the ballas in, it's just that the ground thing wont be in the plug it will be on the side.
I have pics below to explain.

The timer, Ballas cord and the modified extension cord

So thanks Pot Belly and BudWeederson for your help!

it will work, and all, and you prolly won't ever have any probs...but... I recommend you get yourself a grounded timer, non the less.... and I'm an electrician by trade....

Thanks TCVG I asume you have not read the post above yours lol!

it wasn't there when I started to write the post... :p ...

Hey TCVG just a quick question, What does that ground thing do?
Thanks,Dro:cool2:

electricity flows through the path of least resistance so a ground is connecteion from equipment directly to earth providing a non-resistance path.
This protects you and the equipment from electrical leakage. if u touch an equipment that has an electrical leak to the body and its not grounded, the electricty will use ur body to flow to earth and kill you.

if its grounded the electricity will flow through that ground.
