Anyone have a gro clone? Im intrigued by this simple cloning machine due to the low price, $150, and the fact that it operates at low temps.. says it only operates at 3* above room temp..
Im looking for a simple cloning machine thats less than $200 and can still effectively root atleast 25 clones. ive heard a lot of them u have to get coolers and such. i have a mother than is outgrowing my veg room, so I need to get some clones fast. I tried cloning with cloning gel and rockwool and was unsuccessful.

any help would be greatly appreciated!

check out diy easy cloner you can make it as big as you want and i bet itll come in under $100

ya but I think there will be some trial and error and a process of dialing in the diy cloner huh? i mean, I dont want to take clones and them just die again like last time..

I'm really not trying to be a jerk but trial and error is the essence of growing. It's an art form that is very different for everyone. I realize that a lot of people buy pre-packaged grow setups when they first start so that they can have as close to an error free harvest as possible first time around but it's usually just a starting point. Getting in tune with your girls and their needs is where true growing begins, imo.
If you just wanna shell out X amount of dollars and end up with amazing buds w/ very little hassle, then it sounds to me like you need to call a dealer. Cuz the trial and error, the ups and downs, the ebb and flow, it's what it's all about, and how you truly feel and reap the big rewards when the harvest rolls in.
just my inebriated opinion..

i get ur point but I just want to get these things to root. maybe u didnt read my situation. i have a mother that is quickly out growing her veg chamber and i desperately need atleast 1 viable clone that will root from her.

I just need a root from 1 clone. thats it!

Can't you just trim your mother back?

its tall. thats the problem. its over 3ft tall, and its in the veg chamber with autos that are flowering and other plants that are veging, so I need the light as close as possible. plus Im putting this "mother" in flower when my first harvest is done in the flowering chamber..
I already took a bunch of clones from her, but none rooted in the rockwool cubes.. some of the branches where I took the cuttings from havent started growing back and this was prob like 3+weeks ago..
what do u think? im not opposed to building a little bubbler system.. i have a rubbermaid, tubing, and the air pump, i think i would just need 2 air stones and perhaps something for the clones to sit in..
can I use natural light coming through a window for the clones?
thanks

you don't think it's going to be trial and error with this $150 dollar unit too?
it's not going to guarantee you anything other than you spent money you didn't need to. ;)

if your clones aren't taking, it's probably because your fussing over them and doing too much.
you never did mention how you were taking them/what you were doing on your failed cloning attempts (angle cutting, cutting leaves, how big, spraying, dome, etc.)
i personally think domes and spraying are overrated. but the majority use them so who am i to say. i have good results without them, and horrible with)

but yeah, you don't need to waste any money on an expensive cloning machine IMO, there's good DIY ones here if you really want one.
just keep at it, you'll get it ;)
good luck

i used the diy cloner first time ever cloning
i have no rooting hormone nor did i mist the clones
some took 2-3 weeks to show roots
my bubba kush took 5 weeks to show a single root
i was to lazy to change the water or vent my clone room properly (these things are not reccommened and will keep your clone from rooting)
but it still worked
just give it a try but follow the advice of changing the water every week and you will have faster results than i did

i would say that the window would work for light but what are you going to do at night?
giver a try it should atleast be one more learning exp

ive got this little plug in light. just a round little light I use to use for growing mushies.. I also have several rope lights I used to use for growing mushies, I could use those, but should I just get a simple 2 bulb 1ft or 2ft floro setup? just want something cheap and simple that will work.

im making the diy bubbler tonight.

thanks guys!

sounds good i dont know nothin about your rope lights but i used on 9 watt cfl

who kinda floro bulbs should I get? I remember there are different colors.. Im just gonna get a 2 bulb 2' fixture, I think that should suffice, dont you all?

thanks

Hi R999...

I use a 4 bulb - 2 ft. T5 for cloning as well for my early vegging and it works great. Get the blue 6500 Kelvin veg bulbs. Even if you have an old T12 fluoro shop light around that you can get a grow spectrum T12 lamp for work great for clones. Clones aren't picky about light. They can be rooted in the corner of your HID room, in a window with moderate light exposure or even a single tube of fluoro light. You can see in the pic that I have my cloner in the corner and the lights are about 12-14" away. I read a post on some forum where all a guy did for his cloning was put them in a glass of water in the window sill. Whodathunk? Just like my mom used to with the philodendron house plants. I got my idea for using bubbles from a pal who hangs cuttings on the edge of his freshwater fish tank with the tip of the cutting in the aquarium water. The oxygen rich water makes it so easy.

Not long after I saw my buddy doing his fish tank routine I saw some DIY posts for bubble cloners and I had to jump in and try it.... especially since my storage space is full of pumps and airstones etc. I'm not much of a DIY guy but a bubble cloner is the one thing I took it upon myself to build.

As long as your ph is ballpark 6.0 and you have a light tight cloner - including the hoses - to keep any funk from growing all you have to do is load in the clones and away they go. If this was something that couldn't be done in 20 minutes I probably would have bought a cloner at the store but I just can't throw my money away when the concept and construction of a DIY cloner is so much cheaper and very easy to build. I put 2 additional slits my neoprene collars and with my 5 clone site I can do 15 clones easily and I've packed in more many times. I do suggest buying a hole saw for a drill and make sure you measure or take one of your neoprene collars with you to home depot or you'll buy the wrong size hole saw blade. The 3" collars are actually 2 3/4"...;)

Happy Cloning!
