Girl, 15, turns in mom for allegedly smoking pot

The following reminds me of George Orwell's "1984". Those of you who have read the novel might recall the Junior Youth League. The JYL taught the children to turn their parents into the authorities for committing thought crimes, etc.. I don't have kids, but isn't that what D.A.R.E. instructs the kids to do these days?



WAVERLY, Neb. (AP) - A 15-year-old girl turned in her mom for allegedly smoking marijuana in front of her. The 32-year-old woman was cited on suspicion of child abuse and marijuana possession. The daughter called the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office, and authorities executed a search warrant of her mother's home on Wednesday.

The girl told authorities where they could find the woman's drug paraphernalia and marijuana. One gram of pot was found.

The woman has two other children living in the home.

this happened in pennsylvania? thats ridiculous I grew up in the area and when i was 15 i had already been smoking for 2 years ha. This whole thing goes back to the government taking advantage children. they know that its easy to make child believe what they say. look at history class making americas past look heroic and great, what about dare, or the fact that kids are forced to pledge to a flag that they little understand its meaning. The us governemnt disgusts me.

My govt doesnt disgust me. It was set up right. No, my country hasn't always done the right thing. What country has? Well, maybe lil sis up north has somewhat. I hate the people who has ran it. Its sad that it shouldnt be called the United States Govt.. Instead it should be called United States of Corp.. While all the politicians are gettin their pockets fatter, were gettin poorer.

She's pretty young to have a 15 year old, she must have had the kid at 17.

Sounds to me like she didn't get her way and shot back at mom the only way she could. This is why I don't even smoke in the house, I do not want my kids to be exposed until they are mature enough to understand. And if this was my kid they better have that phone close when I got home from the jail because they are gonna need child services to pick them up before I get home.

thor ur exactly right. im 22 and i totally agree this is just a symptom of our generation's selfishness. her siblings are gonna be taken away from her mom bc she pry told the little brat "no" for once. and xxdjbud, our country was set up wrong. the 2 party system is a huge obstacle to any major reform. if we had a proportional legislature, like europe and israel, pot legalization would be on the liberal agenda. big parties cant afford to gamble w/ hot button issues like fringe parties can. our system makes 3rd parties irrelevant.

I kind of feel sorry for the kid and especially her siblings (although she is a brat), CPS has them now, and the fate of older kids in "the system" isn't usually a happy one. GOOD foster homes that will take an older kid are few and far between.

My hubby used to smoke hand-rolled cigs and an occasional pipe, so smoking wasn't unknown in our house. The difference in the smell of the pipe and the cigs was rather distinctive. So Mom just smoked a "different brand", and usually shared her smoke with Dad!

By the time they figured out it was pot, they knew it was a "family secret" on the level of "Dad walks around in his underwear sometimes." Just something you didn't talk about, although it was really no big deal.

I was blessed with smart kids and I taught them to be very cynical about advertising- they just carried it over by themselves to what DARE was saying. DARE wasn't as big of a "circus" back then, though.

My hubby and I use both medically and recreationally, and are California legal. Neither of our (now adult) sons use cannabis- their choice.

I agree, and I'm only 20. But I see kids walking around yelling at their parents and hitting them when they don't get their way. Kids also threaten to call police now if you discipline them. GAH! When a child is young you can't talk to the child about what it has done.

Another thing is kids with money, at least once a week I will hear a kid say "MUM I WANT THIS, IT'S ONLY $50". ONLY!!!!! What the hell? When I was 7 I was happy to have a dollar.

thats why i buy my kid what he needs NOT what he wants.

you gotta teach kids early about the work/reward relationship, and how it is in the world outside of family life. My parents worked like dogs to support my little sister and me growing up. We diddn't get everything we wanted, but we got EVERYTHING we ever needed, including lessons on respect.

Sounds like this daughter is Madder then Heell at her Mother for some reason. Maybe Mom wouldn't let her go out.
Well this girl could cause alot more head ache then what she wanted for herself and mom too.
