From The manual of my ballast,do you agree with this?

400 watts covers approximately 4 x 4 area
600 watt covers approximately 6.5' x 6.5' area
1000 watts covers approximately 8' x 8' area
note:coverage area may be reduced if this is your primary light source.

low watt system 12''-24'' away from the tops of the plants
medium watt system 12''-36'' away from the tops of the plants
high watt system 18''-48'' away from the tops of the plants

This is str8 from the manual i got w/ my sun system ballast..Does anybody get the light closer than these suggested distances or does this sound right? (Thanks for any input,I think this thread could be useful for a new indoor grower.) :hubba: -Peace

Personally, I use the plants themselves as my height gauge, closer the better, but not so much as they start to burn... Every gro room I have ever had is its own animal... Air movement, room temps, humidity can all come into play. I think we have all had to dial ours in. However, I still subscribe to the best new comer to the hobby advice:
When in doubt read the enclosed directions and follow them! Then browse this awesome site for some advice on fine tuning beyond that!

oh,no offence taken bro.i actually am relativly new to indoor growing.i've always grew outdoors.i only have 1 undoor grow under my belt,but i didnt finish them up indoors due to the fact my lease was up on my place. i dont have my cool tube hooked up yet but i do have one of my new 600 watt lights 22'' over the tops of my plants,the tem at the tops is 85 degrees.im watching it closely though.checkin them every 15 mins for the next 4-8 hrs.i'll adjust til i find where i need the bulb to be,this bulbs puttin out alot of heat though,i definitly need to get a cool tube hooked up to it a.s.a.p. I'll have that hooked up friday.
