I currently have 3.5'h x 4'w x 2'd flower box and a 2' x 2' x 2' clone box and before I start my grow I need some advice!

4 plants p/sq. ft, will only be using 7sq ft. for plants, other foot is for fans/inlets n stuff.

28 plants is alot for a 2 x 4 area so I am not sure what wattage cool sun hps light to use. Also how far can I keep my super cooled light from tallest flowers, I really want to push them. Goal is to harvest ASAP with as much yield possible.

For the clone/mother/seedling box what cfl setup would work best?

Your wattage has nothing at all to do with the number of plants you have. A 2 x 4 area requires about 40000 lumens

I would really recommend starting smaller and learning how to grow before becoming so concerned with yield.

everyone wants the biggest yeild with the shortest grow time. if this is your first grow please start a grow journal cause i wanna see this! gotta get my 7 chuckles.

I don't understand why everyone assumes everyone is going to epic fail on their first grow. My friend starting growing with SOG and did his first grow on a scale 3x bigger than mine, and he got just under a pound his first harvest, then just over a pound every 2 weeks after that. He didn't even lose 1 plant and he had over 100. He just did his research. I have a little bit more than some research under my belt though. 2 years college botany/horticulture so I am pretty positive I will be straight. I am actually majoring in horticulture so I can move away from my god forsaken country and work for a seed co.

The one thing I don't know too much about is lights, hence why I am asking ^_^.

Lemme rephrase my question, what is the absolute highest wattage HPS I will be able to go with a super cooled light hanging max 10in away from highest plant? I am trying to produce some super large/dense nugz.

and I will start a journal in a few weeks, doubt their will be any laughing, maybe some drooling though.

sounds like your growing for thewrong reason. why would you need a pound every 2 weeks?

Bro,,if my friend was getting yeilds like that,,I think I would be asking him,,not us.

I wont get anything close to that harvesting 1/4 of 56 plants every 2 weeks.

Trust me I have tried desperately, he moved to Puerto Rico and I tried to call him but the number is out of service. **** I even tried to look him up.

Still need help though!

why are you trying to grow so fast?
you want super dense nugs and all that for sure who doesnt. in my opinion trying it out on maybe just a few plants first so you can focus your time and thoughts into producing the good stuff. but its your grow and your choice of course.
just research lighting as much as possible. you need 5000+ lumens of light per square foot. so if your growing that many plants your going to need alot of light. again why i was saying that before, if you want a large area of plants to be covered with light and to produce intense nugs your gonna need alot of light, and alot of strong light at that.
but then again note that im a beginner but ive read alot

if you want nice fat plants i wouldnt cram as many in ,,,or you planning on doing scrog? and with adequte cooling and intake outake fans and plenty of air circulating i would go for a 600 or 1000

for vegging i use cfls but you could go with a mh or flos ,,,once again 5000 lumens per sq ft
:peace: :48:

:eek:sorry,, just realised you are planning on doing scrog ,,ignore the first part of my post :ignore:

I have a similar setup I have a 2x4x6 tent for flowering and a 1.5x1.5x4 tent that i use for mother and clones

In the flowering chamber I use a 600 watt hps, anything less than 600 will not cover the width of the area which is 4 ft... Your going to want to use a cool tube reflector because you have very little head room in that box, I have one that I put 6in to 4in reducers on each end and a 4in inline fan, I also have this hooked up to a carbon filter...

For the mother tent I use 1, 2ft daylight flouro tube on three side and 2, 25 watt cfl over the top.. I have heard of people using less light than this also...

I know this isnt the point of your post but if your friends grow was 3x bigger than yours that would make his grow 24 sq ft and 1 pound for 24 square feet isnt that much.... A good grower with a high yielding strain could easily get 3 pounds out of a 24 sq ft area...

You can put as big as a light as you want. The trick is adequately cool the bulb. I had a 2 1000w lamps with 737 cfm's cooling them. I could get my plants less then 10 inches away before they started to get light bleaching (not burn). This meant in theory I could get them even closer an not kill them but the light is so bright that they turn bright yellow from pure intensity. The more light the larger the yield. If you can cool a 1000w bulb I would use one.
