This is my first grow, as well as my first post and I have a few, hopefully simple questions.

1. I'm germinating 25 seeds with the little starter kits you get at walmart to start your seeds for a garden. after the little guys out grow their little 2" squares i wanted to transfer them to solo cups(think beer pong). How tall could they get in the cups before i will ultimately have to transfer them to outdoors?

2. also do you think 4 12" battery powered flo's will be sufficiant for the solo cups under my sink? I live in an apartment so i gotta always be weary of the land lord and under the sink for a couple weeks seems the safest to me. I know im gonna run through batterys like crazy but i get batteries free so its no biggy.

thanks for all the help and hopefully ill get some pics up as the little guys grow. the seeds im using are just from som mid i had over 4-20, nothing special sense its my first grow.

yes those floros will be enough. I'd like to know a little mroe info like what lumen and wattage they are but I figure with 4 of them they will be fine. You know if you are germinating you don't show the seeds light right? You just put them between the paper and let them sit in the damp area for 3 or 4 days and they should sprout. Also you can let them get as big as you want before you put them outside. I put my ones outsides as seeds and then I put some indoor grow ones outside. I'd figure you can but them out there as very little plants if you want or you could transplant when they are working on their 3rd or 4th set of leaves.

ok awesome, im not sure of the specs on the flo's i'll check it out tomorrow, and yes i know it has to be dark. hopefully we'll be seeing some sprouts in a few days!

i put all of my seeds out the moment they shoewd on the surface of the soil, and they are doing ok out there now. i also germenated some and put them out in 500ml cola bottles in soil in the bottom (acts as propogator) and checked them 3 days later and they had all broke the surface.

i do have 4 under lights in doors, only babies, i will be keeping them in for a few weeks. This is my first grow too, and all im thinking is, do as many experimants as possible. then you will no for next year exactly what you are going to do and when.

Sounds like a plan to me anyone else think this is a good idea??

GOOD LUCK MAN 85CANNABLISS!!

ok, the box the flo's came in said nothing about lumens or wattage, but they take 8 AA batteries each if thats helpful at all. I'm with you 85cannabliss, im gonna experiment around as much as possible.

You Go Ahead Good Luck Any Question Here I Am

3patas, i no what its like to not have available space in the house. if he could im sure he probably would (i no i would). im hopefully gonna have alot of plants to top & lst & take cuttings off etc.

anaujiram good luck on ya grow mate, pm me the link on ya diary and well learn together lol 85CANNABLISS!!

One last question: My first little sprout is just starting to come up, should i give it a little light or wait till a few others sprout up as well? Oh, and the sticky "Sticky: Newbie Info/Tips!! Read before posting a question! has a section called "How To Top Or LST Your Plants" but some of the pics are broken. I was wondering if anyone could fix them. thanks again!

yes start pumping the light too it. On your first grow I wouldn't worry about LST, you'd probably end up putting the plant into shock and it dieing.

to be honest with you people says they dont need light right away but i put mines under the light before it sprout because plants dont talk and since they cant tell me when they ready i cosider them ready alway it dont hurt them when they big i actuly think it will help but every body is difrent so you do what you think is right

About the mention on no light during germination period, I always put light to them it helps them find there way to the top.. Just as long as you keep them moist I don't see a problem the lights also generates heat for the soil and aids the germination process.
