Fertilizer recommedations

what do you guys use for fertilizer?

it's been a while since i've grown outdoors, and I'm looking for some reccommendations.
i used to just use miracle grow (and have been so far).. but surely there must be better options now.
(a friend actually gave me some "miracle grow houseplant food spikes" any opinions on them? they don't look like a good option to me.)

Stay away from chems outdoors. Just cool for enviro IMO.

Only stuff I ever use is EarthJuice its all organic and i like it cause you can't burn your plants with it..its a multipart fertilizer http://www.earthjuice.com/

i use mg 20-20-20 outside and mine are fine. dont use those houseplant stakes. they killed a tomato i had in a 5 gal pot. and, no, i did not forget which one and give it a dose of 20-20-20.
