hey folks,
first time grower here. i've read the stickies and i'm still not sure where i stand. my pH is 6.5 and my mineral levels seem fine too. i'm using foxfarm 'grow big' plant food (6-4-4).
the worry is that my lowest fan leaves are starting to droop and yellow. my first thought was overwatering but i always make sure the soil is dry (judged by lifting the pot) beforehand.
any and all suggestions are appreciated. thank you in advance for your help. b

i've attached a pic but must say that the lower leaves are yellower to the naked eye

I don't see any problems bear....matter of fact your plant looks really healthy and well fed. Only thing I see is a bit of a stretch between nodes. The bottom leaves of a plant tend to get dinged up and start looking like crap. It is not usually a sign of problems. I usually remove the bottom 1/4 of growth on my ladies anyway. I always judge a plants health by new growth and over all appearance. How about giving us some details on your grow? Strain, Size of grow space and size of light would be nice.

hamster,

thanks. that's a relief. i'm a bit concerned about the stretching as well. what can i do. raise the lamp, perhaps?
details - i am growing white widow, my grow space is 8x6x4 and i'm using a 400w sodium. cool? b

8x6x4? That's a pretty big space. 48 sqr feet x 3000 lumens/sqr foot for veg=144,000 lumens needed. That's what a top end 1000W HPS bulb puts out...and that is just for veg. In Flower you would need even more lumens.
What kind of budget are you working with? One thing I have learned in my couple years of growing is that HO T5's are the way to go for vegging. They really give that tight growth and a lot of that has to do with how close you can get them to the tops of your plants without burning them. When I used to veg with HPS lights I would always get way too much stretch compared to the tight nodes I get with the T5's.

I also am a big believer in High Output T5s for Vegging. Gives ya tight nodes and a bushy plant. My T5s were right on top of my plants,,no more then two inches away from the canopy. Hell,,,my 1st indoor grow was done from start to finish with T5s. Didnt have an HPS,,and I had Buds the size of beer bottles. Put a fan in your growroom to move the plant around and it will make it strong and helps with lots of things.

You want to lower it if possible, raising it will make it worse.

+1 for the T5 vegg, love mine.

That ^^^^^ All the 'that's' in fact.

I would top that sucker also and do some LST on the side growth.

Get it lower and bushy and the light closer.
