does anyone know of or tried using desert sand to sustain a minor to medium gnat infestation?i hear they dont like the sand to lay eggs in therefore eliminating the generation already abundant and it seems to let moisture through pretty good as well.

..as long as it is clean and free of any other pests, it should work just fine.

you could always cook it in the oven to 'sterilize' it if need be.

why would you want to sustain a gnat infestation ????
