I'm about to make a box 2' X 2' X 4' and bought and plan to use (4) 100w CFL bright white lights and was wondering if this is enough or not enough for about 2-3 plants. Any input would be much appreciated.

You want to shoot for 5,000 lumens per square foot of grow space I think you'll need more bulbs I have same size cab and run 10 to 12 for vegging would need more for flowering I'm sure...take care..

Are they 100w equivalent or 100watts of power usage?
If equivalent. Then you would need more.

Bright white is 3500k color temp right? Might want to try some 6500k Daylight bulbs also.

Since your "about to make". You could shave off a few inches. Lower the amount of light needed. Drop it down to 20in x 20in and you could save having to use a few thousand lumens. Thats basically 2-100w equivalent bulbs right there.

Thanx for the reply, so what do you recommend for my size? I don't want the electricity to go through the roof so the most economical way is what I need. Thanx in advance!

Well I have set aside a area for autos that will just be either 24x15 or like 21x18. Something in that cubic inch area to where it will just be breaking 2 squared feet.

And Im using 2 200w equivalent 2700k bulbs. Along side 2 90w daylight bulbs (6500k). And I still might add a couple.

A 250W HPS would be great in that space. Change all of your regular light bulbs out to CFLs, lower your thermostat by a couple of degrees, and turn appliance that you are not using OFF and you should save enough on your electric bill to run a 250W HPS.
