carbon filter?

Hello all, so i bought my carbon filter had it shipped to my house when i got it out i noticed carbon all in the sealed bag i took it out and i can shake it a lil bit comes out though it doesnthave any dings on it. Is it totally busted or could i run it at the exhaust end instead of at the intake? Sorry no pic

thats normal for some dust when first getting it.

run your carbon filter on the exhaust. that is where the smell comes from.
