CalNORML Release news/California_medical_marijuana_regulation_bills_introduced

Sept 9, 2013. The California legislature is about to vote on urgently needed legislation that would clarify the legality of medical marijuana sales, production, transportation, processing and testing through a state-regulated licensing system. The legislation - AB 604 by Assemblyman Tom Ammiano - would eliminate current ambiguities in the law and regulate the commercial production and distribution of medical marijuana under the state Alcohol Beverages Commission.
AB 604 would advance medical marijuana users' interests by finally addressing the mandate of Prop 215 for a "safe and affordable" distribution system. Most critically, this legislation would help protect California from further federal raids by meeting the Department of Justice's newly announced conditions for "strong and effective" state regulation. AB 604 would regulate marijuana in a manner similar to that already successfully done in Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, and other states that have been spared federal raids.

AB 604 would not impose any new taxes, nor would it change the existing rights of Prop 215 patients and their caregivers to grow marijuana for their own medical use at home. Collectives and other businesses engaged in the commercial production and sale of marijuana would be required to register with the ABC. Regulations would require appropriate environmental and security safeguards, product labeling and testing, and compliance with local land use laws.

NORML and other reform groups strongly support AB 604 as an essential step to protect legal access to medical marijuana. However, both bills face strident opposition from the California Narcotics Officers Association, which wants to keep marijuana illegal and keep busting dispensaries and growers.

A companion bill, SB 69 by Sen. Darrell Steinberg and Mark Leno, is also in process.

Hmmmm..not too sure Orange.

For those growers with money, it will be OK. For those that have a few lights that supplement their income, they will become again, criminals. We all know a lot of folks grow their own, and sell off the extra to dispensaries, that would all stop. They would be forced to buy from the big guys only.

I am getting old. I would embrace the new regulations and go super legit myself. I do love walking the line though, that's what makes it a little fun for me, but I'm a freak.

I am already pretty set up for it. My rooms are all up to code as far as building and electrical. This would only empower me to go really big.
I think if it passes, I would be all over it, the day after it passed.

THANKS for the support Rose!

The more I think about it, the more I like it! I truly love growing herb. I can't keep up with demand as it is. I would love to have 1 big show. Finding a place with sufficient power will be the trick.

go big or go home right---not much of a choice but to embrace the new legislation if it's passed---may be time to start looking at warehouses lol

Can I be your in-house plumber?

This will be far bigger then a warehouse scene my friend, everyone and their brother has a warehouse. This is about Industrial complexes.
100 lights minimum. After regulations and taxes and fees, you will have to go bigger and bigger to make a living. This will bring out the BIG players with BIG money. I wouldn't be surprised to see Investment monies coming from Wall Street.
Indoor grows like the MJ world has never seen.

Heck ya! That is the one thing I don't really mess with and hire out, the plumbing!

i envision a 2 story warehouse the size of a costco or walmart---wanna loan me some dough lol

YES! That is what it will take. Mark my words. If that passes, it will be downright silly what gets fired up.

Cal NORML News: Medical Marijuana Bill Fails; Narcs Gather in San Bernardino Monday 9/23

SACRAMENTO - The legislature failed to approve an 11th-hour medical marijuana bill by Assemblyman Tom Ammiano and Senator Darrell Steinberg aimed at preventing federal raids by establishing an effective state regulation system for medical marijuana, as demanded by the Department of Justice. The bill was killed by opponents in law enforcement and the L.A. city government. Thanks to the over 1800 Cal NORML supporters who contacted their legislators in support of the bill. A revised version of the legislation will be introduced next session.

i always said a penitentiary that was closed down would be a great place to showcase unlimited mad growing skills on many levels...
