Im no expert at this but i would think that if your putting that many seeds youre going to be looking over a lot of plants, now i know germinated seeds need WATER, moisture and little light and did i mention WATER? lol.., so if you really care about how many plants you end up with, then yes, try to keep those babies moist in case it doesnt rain till the roots can get in some soil & get water from themselves. If not, let the plant god sort them out..:)

would you throw 100 babies in a big room with a bowl full of milk in the center and see how many of them find it?... lol..some dice clay humor

Understanding nature is like understanding a woman, enough said..;)
Honestly i dont think any1 here can give you an answer to your watering question, you'll need to give them a good watering when you plant them and see how long it takes for the air to dry the soil around and the weather at the time, make your judgement from there. too many factors at hand and only nature has the answers.
what i would do:
i would come back 24 -48 hours later after watering with some nice weather. if its hot, no more than 24 hrs.. that should give you some sort of an idea on their watering needs.
I would germinate a whole bunch of seed indoors first and let the roots come out of the shells a bit about 1/4 of an inch and start planting them every other day, that will give them a head start and it will give you an idea on the conditions for future weathering.
