What traits of the plant do the male give the seed & what traits of the plant do the female give the seed?

It is really simple from what I gather. The traits you can see, touch, taste and smell are the traits either the female or male are most likely to impart.

I know, I know...it's easier said then done but that's the process in it's simplest form.

So, I guess your saying you dont know.

I don't think their is an answer. It is like asking what traits a child will get from its mom and what traits it will get from its dad--there is no way to know.

True THG, I was hoping they had figured it out by now. Let me tell you what I'm doing. I have found an Hawaiian sativa(Paia Hawaiiana) that I like. Am growing it now along with some Jock Horror. 3 weeks into bud. The JH has allready had a male(1 out of 5, not bad) try to pop, I collected pollin & put it in the freezer & removed the male. Once the Hawaiian starts to bud(It hasn't even showed it's sex yet), I'm going to sellect one of the bottom bud sites & pollinate it with a small paint brush. I am hoping to get a smaller stout plant like the JH with the Hawaiian taste & type of high. They are both good strong sativas, I think they might be good bread together.

I have another question.
If I pollinate one of the bud sites of the JH with a JH, will the seeds be true JH or will there be genetic drift?

Yes but as you already know the traits from either parents may be more prevalent then in other plants so it will really boil down to if you are happy with the traits you seen from both the Male and Female JH.

I am still trying to learn this process but I think with the Hawaiian X JH idea you may have to back cross several or many times till you get the offspring you desire.

Yeh, I think it might be a long road for this one. I'll let you know what happens. I might get lucky & hit it first time.(haha)

They both contribute equally in terms of dna but one or other contribution can be masked by genetic dominance over the other, either wholly or partially.ie,a trait expressed in a cross appears in part of a population. This is especially true of hybrids.
